In vitro biosynthesis of juvenile hormone III by the corpora allata ofCalliphora vomitoria and its role in ovarian maturation and sexual receptivity

Summary JH III is the only JH detected by GLC-MS in medium from in vitro incubations of corpora allata of adult females ofCalliphora vomitoria. When corpora allata were removed from females at various times during the reproductive cycle and the JH III produced by the glands in vitro measured by a JH III radioimmunoassay, an increase in the level of synthesis was found to occur before previtellogenesis (0–24 h). A second increase appeared at the onset of vitellogenesis (72–83 h) and continued until the end of vitellogenesis (96 h) and the occurrence of chorionation (120 h). Since sexual receptivity develops with vitellogenesis, the significantly higher levels of JH III biosynthesis in vitro at this time supports a possible role for JH in the acquisitive of receptivity.     

Ontogeny of the sex steroid and prolactin receptors in the male rat adrenal gland

Summary Cytosolic estrogen and androgen receptors and membrane prolactin-binding sites in the male adrenal glands showed a definite pattern during sexual development. The level of sexual steroid receptors paralleled adrenal growth, whereas prolactin binding reached its maximum value in mature rats.Lüthy, I. Sexual dimorphism in the defensive secretion of a carabid beetle

Summary The defensive secretions of male and femaleOodes americanus display striking qualitative differences. Altogether 13 carboxylic acids were identified in the secretions of the two sexes. Methacrylic, crotonic, and tiglic acids are produced exclusively by the female; the male lacks these unsaturated components, but produces their saturated analogs. 2-Methylbutyric acid is a major component produced by both sexes. Shared components also include hexanoic, (E)-2-hexenoic, benzoic, and (E)-2-octenoic acid, of which the latter two had not previously been reported from carabid beetles.Paper no. 98 in the series Defense Mechanisms of Arthropods; no. 97 is by Smedley et al., J. Ultrasonic vocalizations by adult prairie voles,Microtus ochrogaster

Summary Male and femaleMicrotus ochrogaster were presented with anesthetized and awake conspecifics while ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs) were monitored. Males produced significantly more USVs than females during 5-min testing sessions. Males tended to produce more USVs to unfamiliar females than to familiar female siblings. Sexual experience led to increased USV scores by males. These results suggest that USVs by male prairie voles communicate to females the male's gender and his availability for reproductive behavior.     

探析沈从文“乡下人”观念的基本特质

沈从文“乡下人”这一观念绝非是中国封建社会以儒家伦理道德规范所建构的宗法制“乡村文化”,而是一种原始文化的遗存。其“乡下人”具体包涵二个内容,一是野性的生命,一是自由的性爱。“野性的生命”主要以水手这一形象为载体,“自由的性爱”主要以翠翠等湘西女性,包括湘西妓女形象为载体。     

不锈钢管材弯曲成形回弹预测模型研究

为提高管材弯曲成形回弹预测精度,对回弹预测模型构建进行了研究.在1Cr18Ni9Ti不锈钢管材拉伸实验的基础上,提出并建立了分段非线性σ-ε模型,进而利用弹塑性变形理论构建了基于σ-ε关系的回弹预测模型,推导了回弹近似计算公式,并且对回弹影响因素进行了分析研究.实验结果表明,回弹预测结果与实验数据吻合较好,验证了理论分析的正确性和模型的有效性.     

北缘普通野生稻实验种群动态研究Ⅱ--生殖生长动态

以江西东乡和湖南茶陵普通野生稻北缘种群为材料,在繁育期对当地构建的普通野生稻种群实验小种群进行了连续的调查和测定,研究北缘普通野生稻在各种实验条件下有性生殖的生长动态,结果表明：(1)不同起始密度下普通野生稻各小种群的有性繁殖量有一定差异,较低的起始密度抽穗率低,而较高起始密度的种群有性繁殖的总量相对较高,到40枝／m^2时抽穗率增长到一个稳定水平．(2)放牧条件对普通野生稻的有性繁殖总量影响不大;而刈割则对普通野生稻的有性繁殖具有明显的抑制作用,在较轻度的切割条件下虽未使普通野生稻个体趋于灭绝,但对抽穗等有性繁殖指标来说则是灾难性的．(3)长期生长于过高的水深对北缘普通野生稻的有性繁殖也具有抑制作用．
