Summary Among infectious diseases caused by protozoa, malaria is still the greatest killer of children. Mortality in adults living in endemic areas is significantly lower because they frequently acquire partial or complete immunity to the major pathogen,Plasmodium falciparum. This natural protection indicates that vaccination may be possible, and the first candidate antigens were cloned with the use of human immune sera as probes. Genetic and biochemical analysis of the parasite proteins revealed that they are polymorphic, and frequently gene sequences were discovered which were specific for a particular parasite isolate, which eliminated most antigens for purposes of vaccine development. The most promising candidate antigens today are the major surface proteins of sporozoites and blood stage parasites. However, the immune response against those is not sufficient for complete protection, and additional, intensive research is necessary to identify new molecules to be included in a vaccine cocktail against malaria. The current spread of the disease due to increasing drug resistance of parasites and mosquito vectors emphasizes the urgent need for a vaccine. 相似文献

Summary The present studies examined the cytotoxic activities of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) from volunteers with (sero-positive) and without (sero-negative) circulating antibodies to hepatitis B virus surface antigen before and 30 days after vaccination with hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg). Long-term culture of monospecific hepatitis B surface (HBsAg)-responsive T-lymphocytes were isolated and grown in large numbers. The mechanism of T-cell mediated cytolysis, and the identification of the carbohydrate determinants on the surface of these effector cells responsible for the killing effect, are being examined. 相似文献

A re-utilizable piezoelectric crystal (PC) immunosensor for thyroidal triiodothyronine (T3) has been developed. The crystal
was coated with protein A and then reacted with T3 antibody. T3 could be detected in the range of 0.5×10−6 g/L to 10.0×10−6g/L by the, system. Crystal was regenerated by saturating with T3 and subsequent binding of a new anti-T3 antibody layer.
The T3 assay could be repeated up to 5 times using each crystal.

T cells are well known to recognize peptide antigens presented by major histocompatibility (MHC) class I or class II molecules.
More recently, the CD1 family of antigen-presenting molecules has been shown to present both mammalian and microbial glycolipid
antigens for specific recognition by T cells. Human CD1c proteins mediate T cell recognition of polyisoprenyl glycolipids,
evolutionarily conserved phosphoglycolipids, which function in glycan synthesis pathways. This family of antigenic molecules
is particularly attractive for the study of the molecular features that control T cell recognition of self and foreign glycolipids
because natural polyisoprenols from mammals, fungi, protozoa, mycobacteria and eubacteria differ in structure. Moreover, these
naturally occurring structural differences can influence their recognition by CD1c-restricted T cells. This review of the
structural diversity and evolutionary relationships of polyisoprenoid glycolipids emphasizes those features of polyisoprenyl
glycolipid biosynthesis that are relevant to their functions as targets of CD1-mediated T cell responses.

目的:探讨血清糖类抗原125(CA125)测定对心力衰竭患者预后评估的价值.方法:201例心衰患者根据纽约心脏学会(NYHA)心功能分级标准分为Ⅱ级、Ⅲ级、Ⅳ级,入院24 h内测定血清CA125和血浆脑钠肽(BNP)浓度,将患者分为高CA125组(CA125≥35 U/m L)和正常CA125组(CA12535 U/m L),比较两组患者住院死亡率;随访12±6个月,比较两组患者死亡率及再住院率;运用多因素logistic回归分析死亡相关因素.结果:两组患者的NYHA分级、超声心动图参数(左心房内径、左心室舒张末内径、左心室射血分数)、血浆B型尿钠肽(BNP)水平有显著性差别;高CA125组住院死亡率为20.0%,正常CA125组住院死亡率为3.1%,P=0.000;随访12±6个月,两组死亡率分别为22.9%和4.6%,再住院率分别为21.3%和3.8%;多因素logistic回归分析提示CA125是心衰患者死亡独立危险因素,OR=2.257,P=0.030.结论:CA125是心力衰竭患者预后的独立危险因素,对心力衰竭患者的预后评估有一定价值. 相似文献

Human seminal plasma spontaneously coagulates after ejaculation. The major component of this coagulum is semenogelin I, a
52-kDa protein expressed exclusively in the seminal vesicles. Recently, a sperm motility inhibitor has been found to be identical
to semenogelin I, suggesting that it may also be a physiological sperm motility inhibitor. The protein is rapidly cleaved
after ejaculation by the chymotrypsin-like prostatic protease prostate-specific antigen, resulting in liquefaction of the
semen coagulum and the progressive release of motile spermatozoa. Some of the cleavage products of Sg I may also have various
biological functions. While the semenogelin I protein is unique to human and higher primates, it has recently been shown to
belong to a gene family having a similar gene structure but encoding widely differing proteins. The recently elucidated characteristics
of the semenogelin I gene as well as the biochemical and functional properties of the encoded protein are reviewed, and an
attempt is made to integrate the various findings into a model for semen coagulation, sperm immobilization and potential other
functions.
