Analysis of components of conserved “backbone sequences”among genomes of Shigella spp. strains

Difference in the genomic compositions of prokaryotes is the basis of the diversity in their biological characters. However, besides their flora-or strain-specific genes,those floras with closer relationship in the evolution also have conserved “backbone sequences”, which reveal the marks of their origin and evolution, and these “backbone sequences”are just the basis of their elementary living abilities and common biological properties. Shigella is very closely related to E. coli in the origin and evolution, and may turn out to belong to the same genus. In this study, a microarray containing E. coli K-12 whole genome and Sf301 specific ORFs is used to investigate the genomic components of four Shigella strains. The results indicate that 16%-22% K-12 ORFs sequences are not detected in the genome of Shigella strains while the genome of Shigella contains at least 2800 conserved ORFs, which compose the common “backbone sequences”.Advanced analysis indicated that the “backbone sequences”are the essential components in maintaining the normal physiological activities of intestinal bacteria. Furthermore,only 20% Sf301-specific ORFs exist in other strains simultaneously, which demonstrate the great genome heterogeneity and the genetic diversity among the strains.     

光流计算中的时域微分估计误差分析与逐次逼近计算模型

光流计算是实现视频序列中运动补偿滤波和视频对象三维运动分析的基础,也是检测与跟踪可见光图像和红外图像中运动目标的重要前提.而目前各种光流计算方法大多是基于一阶时空梯度的技术,都没考虑时域微分估计误差对计算准确性的影响.分析了光流计算中产生时域微分估计误差的各种因素,提出了光流的逐次逼近计算模型.通过位移预补偿方式减小了时域微分估计中的不准确性,极大地提高了光流计算精度.理论分析和大量对比实验证明,光流的逐次逼近计算模型比通常的光流计算方法具有更高的准确性.     

基于PVS的UML类图和序列图的一致性检验

针对UML类图和序列图的一致性问题,在充分考虑了类继承关系、关联关系、类方法的可见性以及类方法的前、后置条件等因素对一致性影响的基础上,给出了判定类图和序列图一致性的必要条件和PVS元理论,提出了一种基于定理证明器PVS的一致性检验方法.在检验UML模型一致性时,把一致性检验问题转化为逻辑定理证明问题.实践表明,该方法对于提高UML模型的可信度,减少系统实现阶段的错误起到了一定作用.     

Snake venom thrombin-like enzymes: from reptilase to now

The snake venom thrombin-like enzymes (SVTLEs) comprise a number of serine proteases functionally and structurally related to thrombin. Until recently, only nine complete sequences of this subgroup of the serine protease family were known. Over the past 5 years, the primary structure of several SVTLEs has been characterized, and now this family includes several members. Of particular interest is their possible use in pathologies such as thrombosis. The aim of the present review is to summarize the state of the art concerning the evolutionary, structural and biological features of the SVTLEs.Received 16 August 2003; received after revision 26 September 2003; accepted 1 October 2003     

An improved double-threshold method based on gradient histogram

This paper analyzes the characteristics of the output gradient histogram and shortages of several traditional automatic threshold methods in order to segment the gradient image better. Then an improved double-threshold method is proposed, which is combined with the method of maximum classes variance, estimatingarea method and double-threshold method. This method can automatically select two different thresholds to segment gradient images. The computer simulation is performed on the traditional methods and this algorithm and proves that this method can get satisfying result.     

汉语具象性复合词初探

在汉语复合词当中,有相当一部分词具有非常强的形象色彩,体现出明显的具象性,例如"席卷、瓜分、狗尾巴草"等,我们称之为具象性复合词。本文一方面分析了这类词的内部构造方式、外部表现功能;另一方面,还从认知角度出发,指出具象式复合词的隐喻实质及其折射出的人类认知规律。     

浅论虞姬和《虞美人》

中国古典文学作品中众多的女性形象丰富了文学的世界,但是受以男权为中心的社会格局的影响,大多数文学作品对于女性的描摹很简略,这和女性在历史发展中所起的作用是不相符的。《史记·项羽本纪》中的虞姬仅在项羽兵败时才出现,所占笔墨极少,但却给后世的文人及艺术以无限的想象空间。本文试图从虞姬短暂的形象展示和《虞美人》词所展现的艺术世界来解读虞姬们的悲剧——其实也是“人”的悲剧。     

IEEE 802.16a协议物理层ST-OFDM的研究

介绍了IEEE 802.16a协议,并以802.16a协议中的3种物理层实现方式之一--WirelessMAN-OFDM PHY为例,对STC(空时编码)和OFDM(正交频分复用)的结合应用(STC-OFDM)进行了阐述,同时对其BER(误比特率)性能进行了仿真,对仿真结果进行了分析.     

Association of different mobile elements to generate novel integrative elements

Among the more important problems in modern hospitals is the prevalence of bacterial pathogens expressing resistance to multiple antimicrobial agents. The frequency of multiresistance suggests mechanisms by which bacterial species can concentrate and efficiently exchange a variety of resistance determinants. Mechanisms by which this occurs include insertion of transposons within transposons, coalescence through the activity of insertion sequences and the employment of integrons. In some instances, more than one of these mechanisms is involved in creating large multiresistance genetic elements. The association of the elements with transferable elements or transposons may promote rapid dissemination among clinical strains, and create further opportunities for inclusion of additional resistance determinants.     

Neuronal plasticity and regeneration in the olfactory system of mammals: morphological and functional recovery following olfactory bulb deafferentation

The mammalian olfactory system has the unique property in the permanent turnover of the olfactory sensory neurons under normal conditions and following injury. This implies that the topographical map of the epithelium-to-bulb connections generated during ontogenesis has to be maintained despite neuron renewal in order to insure olfactory information processing. One way to investigate this issue has been to disrupt the peripheral connections and analyze how neural connections may be reestablished as well as how animals may perform in olfactory-mediated tasks. This review surveys the main data pertaining to both morphological and functional recoveries taking place in the peripheral olfactory system following olfactory bulb deafferentation. Conclusions from these studies are enlightened by recent data from molecular biology.
