Application of intervention analysis to a road fatality series in ontario

Effect of an intervention on a road fatality time series is studied using (i) the usual intervention analysis of Box and Tiao (1975), and (ii) CUSUM charts for the one-step-ahead forecast errors. It is shown that the seat belt and speed limit legislations of the Ontario Government had some impact in bringing down the road toll level.

A note on diagrams for turning-point diagnostics

A new diagram for discriminating a forecasting technique's history with respect to the two types of turning-point errors, missed turns and false signals is presented. This diagram extends Theil's original prediction-realization (P-R) presentation so that each of the four quadrants and the axes locates a distinct type of forecasting error or correct forecast, thus reducing much of the former ambiguity. This improvement is accomplished without the loss of any information.

The Predictive Performance Evaluation of Biased Regression Predictors With Correlated Errors

When the interdependence of disturbances is present in a regression model, the pattern of sample residuals contains information which is useful in the prediction of post‐sample drawings and when multicollinearity among regressors is also present, it is useful to use biased regression estimators. This information is exploited in the biased predictors derived here. Also, the predictive performance of various biased predictors with correlated errors is discussed and all pair‐wise comparisons are made among these predictors. 在自反的严格凸的具有K-K性质的光滑Banach空间中,设计了一种新的具误差的投影算法,用以逼近拟φ-非扩张映射的不动点集和极大单调算子的零点集的公共元素,并利用所设计的算法证明了公共元的强收敛定理.作为应用,给出寻找凸泛函的极小值问题.
