19世纪前期 ,英俄争夺中亚并达成 1 873年英俄协定。该协定虽在一定程度上暂缓了双方在中亚的紧张对峙局面 ,但它也鼓舞了俄国的扩张势头 ,加快并吞中亚三汗国的步伐     

The distribution and ecology of Chirocephalus diaphanus Prévost (Branchiopoda: Anostraca) in Britain

The anostracan Chirocephalus diaphanus is at the northwestern limits of its range in Britain. Its distribution, based on records made since first reported nearly three centuries ago, is mapped. Aspects of its ecology and behaviour that have a bearing on its requirements, and therefore on the pattern of its distribution, are noted. It is an almost defenceless, opportunistic species, largely confined to temporary pools where it avoids predators. It occurs in those regions of Britain where a high winter water table is followed by a dry spring and early summer, and is essentially confined to the zone in which there is a deficit between precipitation and evapotranspiration during the six months April to September. Such conditions prevail in the south and southeast. Cooler, wetter, northern and western parts, with their more frequent rain-days and cloud cover, do not favour the formation of suitable temporary pools. The eurythermous nature of C. diaphanus, its ability to remain active at low temperatures, and its tolerance of a wide range of other conditions, enable it to exploit, and to reach maturity in, temporary pools before such predators as can colonize them have had the opportunity to do so. Dispersal and survival during ensuing periods of drought are effected by drought-resistant resting eggs. Possible genetic, reproductive and ecological constraints relevant to events that take place towards the edge of its range are noted.     

Patterns of host-plant utilization by leafhoppers in the genus Eupteryx (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) in Britain

Known host-plant associations are listed for the 16 species of Eupteryx occurring in Britain. A total of 77 species in 17 plant families are exploited. The most frequently represented plant family is the Labiatae. Degrees of specificity range from strict monophagy (four spp.) to broad polyphagy (five spp.). In general, host-plant overlap between species is low. The detailed relationships between three Eupteryx species and three members of the Urticaceae were explored using field populations and laboratory feeding experiments, survival tests and examination of patterns of oviposition. Eupteryx urticae, E. cyclops and E. aurata all utilized Urtica dioica as their primary host plant. However, the only regularly recorded association with other members of the Urticaceae was the host range expansion of E. urticae onto Parietaria judaica in the second generation. These findings were supported by the laboratory experiments. The spatial distributions of E. urticae oviposition sites and levels of attack by mymarid parasitoids were similar in populations on the two plant species. The implications of these results are discussed.

明代温州知府何文渊是一位能臣、清官,但在温州民间传说中却被丑化为一个心胸狭隘、凶狠毒辣的封建官吏。历史与传说之间呈现出一道扑朔迷离的鸿沟。通过大传统与小传统的互动关系,运用族群认同以及历史记忆等相关理论,解读何文渊传说,探讨历史与传说的关系。研究表明：何文渊传说是明清以降温州人族群认同的形象表述,是温州民众对当地历史的＂集体记忆＂。中国传统社会里知识精英和普通民众之间的思想互动,使中国文化具有历史与民俗传统交融的特质。

“中国北方长城地带”青铜时代居民的人类学资料表明。匈奴人的人种构成具有突出的地域性，不同地区的匈奴人基本延续了较早时期的人种类型。“中国北方长城地带”东周时期南下的牧人在人种类型上属于“古蒙古高原类型”，来源上应与蒙古高原以及外贝加尔石板墓的居民有一定的渊源关系。到战国晚期以后，当长城以北强大的匈奴联盟形成的时候，这部分古代居民很有可能最终加入到了匈奴联盟当中。

舟山亦称定海,位于杭州湾以南的浙江海面。第一次鸦片战争,英国占领香港,此乃中英关系史上的大事件。但英国对中国领土的最初觊觎目标却并非香港,而是舟山。19世纪40年代,舟山不仅成为英国发动对华鸦片战争最主要的攻击目标;战后,又长期被英军占领,成为中英两国外交的症结。作为当时世界最强国的英国与中国领土舟山间的关系值得探究。
