An unusual new genus and species of coral inhabiting pontoniine shrimp from the Yemen is described and illustrated. The new shrimp is remarkable for its very small size and the unique form of its telson. Three other pontoniine shrimps are also reported from the Yemen for the first time, raising the number of such shrimp species known from southern Arabia to 18.  相似文献

Several aspects of the ecology of Cueva de los Roques were studied: the survey initiated by other speleologists was completed; the flora at the entrance to the cave was studied; and the fauna of the whole cave was analysed by sampling on two occasions three months apart, using a combination of visual searching and baited trapping. The most striking result was the difference in both physical conditions and biology between the two branches of the cave. Branch A has several entrances and thus appreciable air movements, with the result that it is inhabited only by trogloxenes and a few troglophiles. In contrast, branch B is a blind tube with constant high humidity and stable temperature, here there is a community of troglobites. We have found a total of 27 species of invertebrates; these include nine troglobites, of which seven are already known from other lava tubes on Tenerife. This suggests the occurrence of dispersal through a network of cracks in the subsoil, as in other volcanic and karst regions.  相似文献

A new species of sesarmid crab from the Persian Gulf, Nanosesarma sarii n. sp. is described. Further, a poorly known species, N. jousseaumei (Nobili, 1906 Nobili, G. 1906. Faune carcinologique de la Mer Rouge. Décapodes et Stomatopodes. Ann Sci Nat, Zool ser. 9., 4(1): 1347.  [Google Scholar]), is recorded from the Persian Gulf and recognized as a valid species. N. sarii n. sp. is allied to N. minutum (De Man, 1887) and N. jousseaumei (Nobili, 1906) Nobili, G. 1906. Faune carcinologique de la Mer Rouge. Décapodes et Stomatopodes. Ann Sci Nat, Zool ser. 9., 4(1): 1347.  [Google Scholar], but is easily distinguishable from them through a number of characters, in particular the upper surface of the palm with a longitudinal granular ridge, the upper surface of the movable finger fully covered with tubercles, and abdomen of the male with the sixth segment wide and the seventh segment remarkably elongate. N. jousseaumei differs from its remaining congeners in having a large gap between the cheliped fingers, a large tubercle proximally on the outer surface of the movable finger, and large teeth on the posterior margin of the merus of the walking legs.  相似文献

Summary

Based on samples from 1968 to 1976 with a variety of collecting gear, 37 species belonging to 18 families of decapod crustaceans are reported from the Delaware Bay area. The species are divided into four major groups based on life habit and/or habitat (nektonic, benthic, commensal, and semi-terrestrial) and their distribution, relative abundance, and general ecology are described. It is concluded that the decapod crustaceans have closer affinities with taxa from the cool end of the Virginian province. Moreover, it is also concluded that our list is a conservative number of species because most collecting was conducted with grabs as dredge hauls which were primarily restricted to river oyster beds.  相似文献

The pelagic penaeid shrimp Funchalia taaningi Burkenroad, 1940 is redescribed based on specimens collected mainly in the central Pacific Ocean. The petasma of the male is illustrated for the first time. The distribution of the species is extended into the eastern Indian Ocean based on a female collected in 1964 during the International Indian Ocean Expedition. Two males of Funchalia villosa (Bouvier, 1905), also collected during the International Indian Ocean Expedition, are recorded from the eastern Indian Ocean, extending the known distribution of this species.  相似文献

A new genus of freshwater crab, Karkata gen. nov., with two species, K. ghanarakta sp. nov. (type species) and K. kusumbha sp. nov., and two new species each of Pilarta Bahir and Yeo, 2007 (P. aroma sp. nov. and P. punctatissima sp. nov.) and Cylindrotelphusa Alcock, 1909 (C. breviphallus sp. nov. and C. longiphallus sp. nov.), are described from Kerala, India. Additionally, C. granulata (Pillai, 1951) comb. et stat. nov. is recognised as a distinct species. Karkata gen. nov. is distinguished from other Indian gecarcinucid genera by a suite of carapace and gonopod characters, including a moderately arched, smooth carapace, the presence of a prominent suture between male thoracic sternites 2, 3 and 3, 4, the absence of a flagellum on the third maxilliped exopod, a very short terminal segment of the male first gonopod (G1), and a short distal segment of the male second gonopod (G2). Karkata ghanarakta sp. nov. is differentiated from K. kusumbha sp. nov. by the shape of the G1 subterminal segment and its live colouration. Pilarta punctatissima sp. nov. is distinct among the congeners mainly by its densely punctate carapace, densely setose anterolateral and posterolateral margins of the carapace, stouter G1 terminal segment, and relatively long G2 distal segment whereas P. aroma sp. nov. can be separated from P. anuka Bahir and Yeo, 2007 by its relatively smooth carapace, deep H-shaped groove, relatively long G1 terminal segment, and almost straight outer margins of the G1 terminal and subterminal segments. Cylindrotelphusa breviphallus sp. nov. is differentiated from C. longiphallus sp. nov. and C. steniops (Alcock, 1909) by its stout G1, with a stout, short terminal segment. Cylindrotelphusa longiphallus sp. nov. is distinguished from the congeners by its shallow, narrow cervical grooves and relatively slender ambulatory legs. An identification key to the species of Karkata, Pilarta and Cylindrotelphusa is provided.
