Based on external structural features, especially those of the mouthparts, and male and female genitalia, the aleocharine staphylinid genus Leptandria, new genus, is proposed and diagnosed. Three new species are also described, L. ashei, L. tishechkini and L. ecitophila, with a key to differentiate them and numerous illustrations of diagnostic features presented.  相似文献

This study describes two new freshwater otoplanid species (Platyhelminthes, Proseriata), Itaspiella parana n. sp. and Philosyrtis rauli n. sp., from interstitial habitats of the middle Paraná river (Argentina) and lower Uruguay river (Uruguay), respectively. Kata sp. from the Uruguay river is briefly characterized. This is the first report of otoplanids from freshwater environments of South America. The studied areas are particular biotopes. At present, only a few studies on the turbellarian fauna and its ecology have been carried out in the Paraná river and the records presented here are the first for the Uruguay river. The main difference between other known otoplanid species and Itaspiella parana, Philosyrtis rauli and Kata sp. is their ecological characterization. Until now the family Otoplanidae was known only from marine environments, with a few exceptions.  相似文献

The biology and immature stages of Pagyris ulla (Hewitson, [1857]) (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Ithomiini) are described for the first time. The species’ host plant is established to be Brugmansia candida Pers. (Solanaceae). The life cycle from eggs to adult under laboratory conditions and ambient temperature took approximately 47 days, and the larvae passed through five instars. The larvae are gregarious, feed at night, and rest during the day in nests made by joining leaves near the apex of the plant stem.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The morphology of corellids (Ascidiacea) has led to numerous misidentifications and wrong taxonomic decisions over the last century. Paradoxically, the morphology has also enabled new species to be identified and ancient entities to be re-established in the Southern Hemisphere. There are many examples of the integration of morphological and molecular data leading to the same taxonomic conclusions, and therefore we aimed to analyse DNA sequences of the gene cytochrome oxidase subunit I of currently accepted species within Corellidae occurring in the Southern Hemisphere. Haplotype networks along with phylogenetic trees and genetic distances not only corroborate the distinction between Corella eumyota and Corella antarctica, but also separate the latter into two potential groups, one located in Terre Adélie and the other in the Antarctic Peninsula (AP). Furthermore, the C. antarctica group from the AP was closely related to the allied abyssal species, Corynascidia suhmi from Terre Adélie. Although the number of new sequences is reduced, our results are congruent with a long record of suspicion on the matter and stress the need for deeper and more extensive investigation of this ascidian family.  相似文献

With notable exceptions, specialist museums have generally failed to collect an adequate record of the material culture of post-war science and technology. Some reasons for this failure are identified, and some suggestions for remedying this situation are made with the help of a specific example: genomic science and medicine. Genomics is a quintessentially 21st-century science: data-rich, digital, and technique-and technology-driven. As such, it presents particular challenges and opportunities to museums wishing to improve their performance in collecting recent and contemporary science and technology. The paper explores different dimensions of this challenge through the attempt to establish a Museum Genomics Initiative, an international group of museum professionals who are committed to collaborating around the documentation of genomic science and medicine.  相似文献
