Frequency-dependent effect of verapamil on rat soleus muscle

Summary In the presence of verapamil (0.1 mM) rat soleus muscle fibers failed to generate action potentials with overshoots. In fibers with their V_m set to a local level of –90 mV, verapamil produces a gradual reduction in the amplitude of the repetitive action potentials; this effect is more pronounced at high rates of stimulation (100 Hz). Our results suggest a local anesthetic action of this drug that could contribute with its calcium channel blocking effect to the diminished mechanical tension observed in the presence of the drug.Acknowledgments. Muscle fluorometry: A determination of the depth of penetration

Summary Fluorometric recordings of NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) were made on rabbit papillary muscles. The specimens were placed between the UV light source and a small window of the detection stage. As the muscle was moved over the window in a transverse direction, simultaneous measurement could be taken of transmitted UV light and fluorescent light for various thicknesses of tissue. It is concluded that a muscle thinckness of 0.65 mm, is optimal before absorption of the incident light decreases the fluorescence signal.     

Intercellular dye-coupling in intestinal smooth muscle. Are gap junctions required for intercellular coupling?

Summary The dye Lucifer Yellow was injected into single smooth muscle cells in the guinea pig small intestine in order to study intercellular coupling. Dye-coupling was observed in both the circular and longitudinal muscle layers and was markedly reduced when the intercellular pH was lowered. These results suggest the presence of gap junctions among intestinal muscle cells, but are inconsistent with previous ultrastructural studies that failed to demonstrate such junctions in the longitudinal muscle.     

幼儿体操教学对幼儿大肌肉动作发展影响的实验研究

采用大肌肉动作发展测试量表,研究了幼儿体操教学对4～6岁幼儿大肌肉群动作发展的影响,结果表明：幼儿体操教学可以有效地促进4～6岁幼儿的大肌肉群动作的发展,且对位移技能的影响较为显著;4～6岁幼儿大肌肉动作的发展具有不平衡性,男女孩位移动作方面发展较均衡,而男孩物体控制方面较好。     

关于快慢两种肌纤维的形态结构及代谢特性与运动能力的研究

本文从形态结构及生理代谢角度论述了人体骨骼肌中的快慢两种肌纤维的生理机制及运动能力，并揭示出了用不同强度的练习可分别发展不同类型的肌纤维，同时也为运动员的选材提供了可靠的科学依据。     

Understanding the importance of selenium and selenoproteins in muscle function

Selenium is an essential trace element. In cattle, selenium deficiency causes dysfunction of various organs, including skeletal and cardiac muscles. In humans as well, lack of selenium is associated with many disorders, but despite accumulation of clinical reports, muscle diseases are not generally considered on the list. The goal of this review is to establish the connection between clinical observations and the most recent advances obtained in selenium biology. Recent results about a possible role of selenium-containing proteins in muscle formation and repair have been collected. Selenoprotein N is the first selenoprotein linked to genetic disorders consisting of different forms of congenital muscular dystrophies. Understanding the muscle disorders associated with selenium deficiency or selenoprotein N dysfunction is an essential step in defining the causes of the disease and obtaining a better comprehension of the mechanisms involved in muscle formation and maintenance. 化橘红中主要活性成分对豚鼠气管平滑肌细胞增殖的影响

目的：初步观察化橘红中主要活性成分对豚鼠气管平滑肌细胞增殖的影响。方法通过原代培养豚鼠气管平滑肌细胞,采用 MTT 法观察化橘红中主要活性成分柚皮苷（Naringin）、橘皮内酯（Meranzin）和水合橘皮内酯（Meranzin hydrate）对细胞增殖的影响。结果柚皮苷（0.2~2.0 mg/mL）对豚鼠气管平滑肌细胞增殖有明显的促进作用（P<0.01）,水合橘皮内酯（0.1~1.0 mg/mL）对豚鼠气管平滑肌细胞增殖有明显的抑制作用（P<0.01）,橘皮内酯（0.05~0.5 mg/mL）对豚鼠气管平滑肌细胞的增殖作用不明显（P ＞0.05）。结论柚皮苷与水合橘皮内酯可能是化橘红主要药效活性成分。     

表面肌电在攀岩训练中的应用研究

肌肉疲劳产生过程中,肌电图的振幅和频谱指标均会产生相应变化.运用肌电图对运动员肌肉状态指标的评定可以对运动训练起指导作用.肌电图在攀岩领域的应用还比较少,通过对攀岩运动员在间歇训练法训练时的上肢主要做功肌肉左右腕屈肌、左右腕伸肌的的表面肌电信号(sEMG)进行分析,观察肌电图的变化情况,探讨肌电图在攀岩运动过程中应用的可行性.     

Triphasic vascular effects of thiol compounds and their oxidized forms on dog coronary arteries

The vascular effects of 2-mercaptoethanol, cysteamine, L-cysteine, glutathione (GSH), cystamine and oxidized GSH (GSSG) on the isometric tension of isolated dog coronary arterial strips were examined, and these effects were compared with the triphasic response induced by dithiothreitol (DTT); a rapid and weak contraction (phase A), an intervening slow relaxation (phase B) and a slowly-developing strong contraction (phase C) which we previously reported. The responses of the arteries induced by 2-mercaptoethanol, cysteamine and L-cysteine consisted of phases A, B and C. The order of contractile potency (ED₅₀ of phase C) was DTTL-cysteine>2-mercaptoethanolcysteamine, while the order of relaxant potency (ED₅₀ of phase B) was DTT>cysteamine2-mercaptoethanol. GSSG and cystamine mainly produced relaxation, which corresponded to phase B. The phase C contraction was specific to the reduced forms of thiols, except for GSH, which produced only relaxation. The participation of endothelial cells was not essential for the contracting or relaxing effects of the thiol compounds. The phase C contraction was depressed by W-7, a calmodulin antagonist, while phase A was not. Therefore calmodulin-dependent protein kinases may participate in phase C, not in phase A.
