新文学史上,杜威、罗素、泰戈尔、萧伯纳相继来华讲演、游历,带来了他们的思想文化观念,但在一个“革命”高于一切的年代,国人对他们的接受多停留在实用层面,能够形成学理互动与对话者寥寥,这不能不说是一个遗憾。如今,非此即彼的二元对立思维、战争状态下的非常态现实已经成为过去,我们可以并且能够以一种冷静的心态从多维、复合的视角来追寻他们的来华轨迹、作品及影像,考察其思想与当下文学的对接与融合。     

从诺奇克与罗尔斯的自由主义哲学比较看中国实现社会公平的新思维

社会不公平问题由来已久,如果将各种社会矛盾的根源加以归结,分配不公平应该是最为重要的根源之一。文中试图从罗尔斯公平正义论的两大正义原则和诺奇克的权利正义论的三大原则的对比中找到两种不同形态的自由主义思潮所提供的解决社会公平难题的理论参考。最终得出的结论是,中国的以人为本全面发展的发展道路是实现社会公平正义的新思维。

英国浪漫主义诗人约翰·济慈的书信反映了他的哲学思想,而他的哲学思想又在某种程度上决定了他的诗歌创作。从济慈的一封书信来分析隐藏于其中的哲学思想．并论证这种哲学思想决定了济慈在书信写作当时和其后所创作颂歌的特色：语言富有描述性与感官性、语调柔美、似是而非、思想上的不确定性。

约翰·福尔斯是英国当代著名作家,他的著作《法国中尉的女人》是一部内容丰富的元小说,体现了小说与当时的历史社会文化生活背景之间、与其他文本之间、以及同传统小说创作方法的互文性关系,同时,正是因为有对传统文本的思考,才使该作品具有了超时代的吸引力。     

Models and perspectives on stage: remarks on Giere’s Scientific perspectivism

Ron Giere’s recent book Scientific perspectivism sets out an account of science that attempts to forge a via media between two popular extremes: absolutist, objectivist realism on the one hand, and social constructivism or skeptical anti-realism on the other. The key for Giere is to treat both scientific observation and scientific theories as perspectives, which are limited, partial, contingent, context-, agent- and purpose-dependent, and pluralism-friendly, while nonetheless world-oriented and modestly realist. Giere’s perspectivism bears significant similarity to earlier ideas of Paul Feyerabend and John Dewey. Comparing these to Giere’s work not only uncovers a consilience of ideas, but also can help to fill out Giere’s account in places where it is not fully developed, as well as helping us understand the work of these earlier authors and their continuing relevance to contemporary concerns in philosophy of science.

杜威在教育理论和实践中一直进行着艰苦的探索,建立了一套完整的实用主义教育思想体系,课程理论是其中重要的组成部分。针对传统教育的弊端,他提出崭新的课程理论,其核心可以视作“儿童、活动、价值”:课程设计以儿童为依据,课程的实施以活动为载体,课程的评价以价值为取向。     

Written in the flesh: Isaac Newton on the mind–body relation

Isaac Newton’s views on the mind–body relation are of interest not only because of their somewhat unique departure from popular early modern conceptions of mind and its relation to body, but also because of their connections with other aspects of Newton’s thought. In this paper I argue that (1) Newton accepted an interesting sort of mind–body monism, one which defies neat categorization, but which clearly departs from Cartesian substance dualism, and (2) Newton took the power by which we move our bodies by thought alone to be a member of the family of forces that includes gravity and electricity. Time and again, Newton draws an analogy between the ultimate cause and nature of the volitional powers of mind and the ultimate cause and nature of these other forces.
