转眼“首届院士苏州论坛”过去一载，第二届论坛又即将召开。回眸去年，12位国内外学术界享有盛誉的科学家应邀来到苏州，为苏州创新型城市建设拓展思路、出谋划策。     

Innovations for a changing and challenging world

We live in a rapidly changing world. Firstly, emerging and developing countries＇ research and innovation capabilities are increasing rapidly. China is the most impressive example, having dramatically increased its expenditure on research and development （R＆D） and its human resources for science and technology. As a result, China＇ s share of global knowledge resources has grown dramatically in the past 30 years. Secondly, the nature of innovation is changing. Innovation used to be very much defined and dominated by large companies in Europe, North America and Japan, characterized by a strongly science driven and linear process in which knowledge was generated in academia and then commercialized by industry.

一、绿色建筑的内涵 随着绿色文化的日益推广和普及,人们开始向往在绿色建筑中轻松愉快地生活、工作,但对什么样的建筑才算“绿色”,学术界、产业界始终没有定论。二十世纪60年代,美籍意大利建筑师保罗·索勒瑞首次将“生态”与“建筑”两个词合称为“生态建筑”（Ecological Building）。

一、古代奥林匹克运动溯源——神话传说与社会现实交相辉映．古希腊是一个神话王国,其优美动人的神话故事和曲折离奇的民间传说为古代奥林匹克运动的起源蒙上了一层神秘色彩。有关古代奥林匹克运动起源的传说有很多,其中在学术界最主要的有两个版本：一种是古代奥林匹克运动会是为了祭祀宙斯而定期举行的体育竞技活动;
