Lipoprotein lipase activator deficiency in very low density lipoproteins in rat nephrotic syndrome.

Marked urinary loss of lipoprotein lipase activator in experimental rat nephrotic syndrome may be partly responsible for its deficiency in plasma very low density lipoproteins.     

崩解剂羧甲基淀粉的固相合成及性能

对崩解剂羧甲基淀粉（CMS）固相合成方法进行了研究，筛选了固相合成CMS用催化剂，合成了医药用崩解剂羧甲基淀粉，考察了碱和一氯乙酸用量对CMS取供度（DS）的影响及DS和CMS中游离羧基和成盐羧基比（H／Na）对崩解剂吸水溶胀性能的影响。实验表明，该合成方法与溶液相比，节约了有机溶剂，降低了生产成本，提高了产品质量和收率。     

Reproductive ecology of bison on Antelope Island, Utah

Autumn musters of bison ( Bison bison ) on Antelope Island State Park, Utah, conducted annually since 1987, provided data on temporal and age-specific reproductive patterns and a basis to evaluate the efficacy of management measures implemented to elevate reproductive performance in the herd. Pregnancy rates were variable and low ( x = 46.2%) in comparison to other free-ranging, noncommercial bison herds in North America. Cows in the 3- and > 6-yr range age classes exhibited lower-than-expected pregnancy rates ( P r = 0.64, P = 0.047) linear decline of 2.5% per annum. Variance in distribution of fetal ages observed in 6 yr indicates substantial temporal fluctuation. Long-term reproductive performance of cohorts born prior to implementation of management measures did not differ from that of cohorts born subsequent to these changes.     

Actin-based motility of vaccinia virus mimics receptor tyrosine kinase signalling.

Studies of the actin-based motility of the intracellular pathogens Listeria monocytogenes and Shigella flexneri have provided important insight into the events occurring at the leading edges of motile cells. Like the bacteria Listeria and Shigella, vaccinia virus, a relative of the causative agent of smallpox, uses actin-based motility to spread between cells. In contrast to Listeria or Shigella, the actin-based motility of vaccinia is dependent on an unknown phosphotyrosine protein, but the underlying mechanism remains obscure. Here we show that phosphorylation of tyrosine 112 in the viral protein A36R by Src-family kinases is essential for the actin-based motility of vaccinia. Tyrosine phosphorylation of A36R results in a direct interaction with the adaptor protein Nck and the recruitment of the Ena/VASP family member N-WASP to the site of actin assembly. We also show that Nck and N-WASP are essential for the actin-based motility of vaccinia virus. We suggest that vaccinia virus spreads by mimicking the signalling pathways that are normally involved in actin polymerization at the plasma membrane.     

Establishment of serum based essentiall free of proteolytic activity for the culture of mouse pancreatic islets.

The present study demonstrates that a) serum based culture medium degrades 125I inhibits its proteolytic activity leading to the recovery of more insulin secreted by islets cultured in the presence of high glucose concentration alone or with glucagon; c) aprotinin also favoured the accumulation of secreted insulin by protecting the hormone from a residual degradative capacity of the hear treated serum.
