Peat record reflecting Holocene climatic change in the Zoige Plateau and AMS radiocarbon dating

Through the use of reliable AMS dating of high resolution (15-30 years) peat and the establishment of monsoon climate proxies sequence, we have been able to recognize several cold, dry events in the Tibetan Plateau during the Holocene. The more obvious ones occurred around 12800, 11300, 10200, 9580, 8900, 6400, 4400, 3700, 2800 and 1500 cal. aBP. These events correlate well with both ice rafting events recorded in high latitude North Atlantic Ocean sediment cores and cooling events in the low latitude SST. Spectral analysis indicates high frequency climate variation on centennial-millennial time scale during the Holocene. This further reflects Holocene climate instability and the existence of centennial-millenium scale rhythm in mid latitude areas as well.

Chaos-Based Multipurpose Image Watermarking Algorithm

To achieve the goal of image content authentication and copyright protection simultaneously, this paper presents a novel image dual watermarking method based on chaotic map. Firstly, the host image was split into many nonoverlapping small blocks, and the block-wise discrete cosine transform （DCT） is computed. Secondly, the robust watermarks, shuffled by the chaotic sequences, are embedded in the DC coefficients of blocks to achieve the goal of copyright protection. The semi-fragile watermarks, generated by chaotic map, are embedded in the AC coefficients of blocks to obtain the aim of image authentication. Both of them can be extracted without the original image. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm in terms of robustness and fragility.

Change and Relationship of Hematocrit and Electrocardiogram of the Crew in High Altitude Span Transportation

Objective： To investigate the effect of high altitude span transportation on the change of hematocrit and electrocardiogram of the crew in the plateau construction, and discuss their relationship. Method： By SPSS 11.0 statistical software, to treat hematocrit and electrocardiogram in the examination data of the the crew, who took part in the construction of Qinghai-Tibetan railway in 2003, before, during and after the construction. Then, we compared the data among the constructors in the fixed altitude during the same period. Result： The hematocrit of the crew slowly and continually rose to the maximum （p 〈 0.01 ） after the construction in the high altitude span during one construction year, and the abnormal rate of electrocardiogram obviously decreased（p 〈 0.05）. The abnormal rate of electrocardiogram apparently improved when hernatorit reached 52% among the range from 45.12% to 52.24%, and the correlation analysis showed that the electrocardiographic change was closely and negatively correlated with the hematocrit among the range of hematocrit（p 〈 0.05）. Conclusion： Although the higher-level stress state of the crew made the hematocrit in the blood continually increase in the long-teml high altitude span construction, the hematocrit reached the more reasonable hematocrit compensation and made it the optimum state of Hct in the end. As a result, the perfusion of tissues and organs was improved. The abnormal rate of electrocardiogram apparently improved because the oxygen delivery of the myocardium reached the optimum compensation.
