Structural and biochemical mechanism responsible for the stay-green phenotype in common wheat

In order to increase the supply of assimilated carbon to grain, a new stay-green wheat cultivar, Chuannong17 (CN17), with delayed leaf senescence, carrying wheat-rye 1RS.1BL translo- cated chromosome was developed. CN17 exhibited distinct differences in net photosynthetic rate (Pn), chlorophyll (Chl) content, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, activity of both superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) during the grain filling stage, and flag leaf senescence compared with the control. The new cultivar maintained longer and higher photosyn- thetic competence compared with the control, and this aspect correlated with the difference in chloro-plast development. Moreover, the stay-green pheno-type of CN17 was also observed under natural growth conditions. Consequently, the coordination of the physiological, biochemical, and structural aspects in the stay-green cultivar produced higher seed weights and per-plant yield compared with the control cultivar.     

Rational design of glycerol dehydratase： Swapping the genes encoding the subunits of glycerol dehydratase to improve enzymatic properties

1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD) is an important material for chemical industry,and there has been always much interest in the production of 1,3-PD using all possible routes. The genes encoding glyc-erol dehydratase (GDHt) from Citrobacter freundii,Klebsiella pneumoniae and metagenome were cloned and expressed in E. coli. All glycerol dehy-dratases but the one from metagenome could be detected to show enzyme activities. In order to im-prove the enzymatic properties of GDHts,the genes encoding α and β-γ subunits were cloned,and the enzyme characteristics were evolved by rational de-sign based on their 3D structures which were con-structed by homology modeling. Six heteroenzymes were obtained by swapping the α subunit genes of these three different-source-derived GDHts. The pH,thermal stability and Vmax of some heteroenzymes were dramatically improved by 2―5 times compared with the wild one (GDHtKP). The GDHt cloned from metagenome,originally proved to be with no enzyme activity,was converted into active enzyme by swap-ping its subunits with other different GDHts. In addi-tion,the effect of subtle 3D structural changes on the properties of the enzyme was also observed.     

A Robust IP Packets Filtering Mechanism for Protecting Web Server from DDoS Attacks

Distributed denial of service （DDoS） attacks exploit the availability of Web servers, resulting in the severe loss of their connectivity. We present a robust IP packets filtering mechanism which combines the detection and filtering engine together to protect Web Servers from DDoS Attacks. The mechanism can detect DDoS attacks by inspecting inbound packets with an IP address database, and filter out lower priority IP addresses to preserve the connection for valid users by monitoring the queues status. We use the Netfilter＇s technique, a framework inside the Linux 2.4. X, to implement it on a Web server. Also, we evaluate this mechanism and analyze the influence of some important parameters on system performance. The experimental results show that this mechanism is effective against DDoS attacks.     

Architecture of Trusted PC

This paper, focusing on the trusted computing group＇s standards, explained the key concept of trusted compuling and provided the architecture of trusted PC. It built trust bottom-up by starting with trusted hardware and adding layers of trusted software. It is a system-level solution available to all applications running on the member platforms. This solution reduces the security burden on applications and thus simplifies application programming.     

中学生数学问题意识的调查与分析

界定了“数学问题意识”,并针对实验班的学生就数学问题意识进行了调查。结果表明学生不知自己有问题,缺乏提问题的意识和习惯;遇到问题时,缺乏提问题的勇气和自信;不善于提出问题,缺乏提问题的策略和能力;对问题的认识肤浅。分析以上现象的主要原因,并提出三点思考建议。     

Anti-interference method for HF radars by transmitting phase-modulated chirps

Radio frequency interference （RFI） is a major problem in high-frequency （HF） radars. Conventional filtering-involved RFI suppression methods may introduce distortions to the target signals of interest and often demand extra hardware costs. In this paper, a novel method for RFI suppression by using linearly or randomly phase-modulated （PM） chirps is proposed, which enables independent analyses of the target signal and the RFI. Furthermore, the directions of arrival （DOA） of the interference are used as constraints to ensure a better DOA estimation of the target. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by numerical simulation results. The method can greatly improve the anti-interference capabilities of HF radars and is extremely applicable in the portable and low-cost radar systems.     

A New Digital Multilevel Proxy Signature Scheme Based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography

Based on the analysis of elliptic curve digital signature algorithm（ECDSA）,aiming at multilevel proxy signature in which the original signer delegates the digital signature authority to several proxies and its security demands, a new multilevel proxy signature scheme based on elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem （ECDLP） is presented and its security are proved.     

Avoiding obstacles by using a proximity infrared sensor skin

Placement and wiring of vast amount of sensor elements on the 3-dimensionally configured robot surface to form soft sensor skin is very difficult with the traditional technology. In this paper we propose a new method to realize such a skin. By implanting infrared sensors array in an elastic body, we obtain an elastic and tough sensor skin that can be shaped freely. The developed sensor skin is a large-area, flexible array of infrared sensors with data processing capabilities. Depending on the skin electronics, it endows its carrier with an ability to sense its surroundings. The structure, the method of infrared sensor signal processing, and basic experiments of sensor skin are presented. The validity of the infrared sensor skin is investigated by preliminary obstacle avoidance trial.
