UV-induced increase in number of periventricular ‘Gomori-positive’ glial cells in brains of mice

Zusammenfassung Im vorderen Teil des 3. Ventrikels wurden periventrikuläre «Gomori-positive» Glizellen bei normalen und UV-bestrahlten weissen Mäusen gezählt und eine statistisch signifikante Erhöhung der Zellen nach 14, 21 und 28 Tagen täglicher UV-Bestrahlung festgestellt.     

Yolk protein differences between species ofDrosophila

Summary 1–3 major proteins considered as vitellins or yolk proteins are detected in mature eggs from differentDrosophila species by gel electrophoresis on gradient slab gels. Qualitative and quantiative differences are found even between closely related species. In heteroplastic transplantations, no correlation was found between the similarity or dissimilarity of the protein pattern on the one hand, and success of failure of egg development and vitellogenesis on the other hand.We thank Mr B. Hybridization studies in the further characterization of erythrocyte glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase

Zusammenfassung Die Hybridisierung von Ratten- und Rinder-Glukose-6-Phosphat Dehydrogenase ergibt 2 Hybride, was darauf hindeutet, dass das Enzym in beiden Gattungen ein Polymer von verschiedenen Aminosäureketten ist.     

Fibrinolytic proteases in snake venoms

Zusammenfassung Fibrinolysine zweier Schlangengifte haben — im Gegensatz zu Plasmin und Trypsin — keinen Plasminogen-aktivierenden Effekt, noch sind sie durch Proteasen-Inhibitoren gehemmt. Sowohl in vivo wie auch in vitro sind sie durch Plasmaproteine inaktiviert, was jedoch nicht auf ₁ und ₂-Antiplasmine zurückzuführen ist. Die Spaltprodukte der Toxin-Fibrinogenolyse besitzen einen hohen Gehalt an Antithrombin VI.     

Effect and fate of intravenously administered porphobilin in rats

Summary It rats after i.v. prophobilin, blood pressure and pulse rate remained stable, the animals were calm and moved freely with no symptoms or signs of nervous effect. Prophobilin was rapidly excreted in the urine.     

Cell proliferations inLymantria dispar L. larvae infected with the nuclear polyhedrosis virus

Résumé Dans l'hypoderme et l'épithelium trachéal de chenilles deLymantria dispar L. infectées expérimentalement avec le virus de la polyhédrose nucléaire, nous avons découvert des proliférations cellulaires de type néoplasmique. Dans les cellules des tissus de prolifération on observe une hypertrophie du noyau et du nucléole, la formation d'une strome virogénique et l'apparition d'inclusions virales — modifications caractéristiques produites par le virus de la polyhédrose nucléaire.     

Potential carcinolytic agents. VI. New deactivated biological alkylating agents

Résumé Les auteurs ont effectué de nouvelles préparations chimiques anticancéreuses en utilisant une forme des agents alkylants déactivés du type moutarde nitrogénée quaternaire. Un mode d'action est proposé par lequel ces préparations peuvent être activées in vivo.
