Calcium ion binding to blood cell surfaces

Zusammenfassung Neue Erkenntnisse über die quantitativen Zusammenhänge von fixierten, negativen Ladungen an Zellmembranen und ihren Interaktionen mit Kalzium-Ionen. Die elektrophoretische Analyse der Bindung von Ca-Ionen an menschliche polymorphkernige Leukozyten und rote Blutkörperchen deutet die Anwesenheit von mindestens 3 verschiedenen anionischen Ladungskonfigurationen in der peripheren Zone der Zellen an. Die zwischen den Ca-Ionen und den Oberflächen-Anionen existierenden elektrochemischen freien Bindungsenergien sind relativ schwach; daraus folgert, dass die Ca-Ionen nur schlechte Komponenten für eine direkte interzelluläre überbrückung darstellen.     

Antineoplastic agents 32. The pseudoguaianolide helenalin

Zusammenfassung Aus der PflanzeHelenium autummnale (Familie compositae) wurde ein alkolischer Extrakt gewonnen, der cytotoxische und antileukämische Aktivität zeigte und die Helenalin (I) als wirksame Komponente enthielt. Die Behandlung von Mäusen, die Träger von P 388 lymphocytischer Leukämie waren, ergab eine beachtliche (T/C 220) Verlängerung ihrer Lebenserwartung. Die Substanz zeigte ausserdem einen wachstumshemmenden Einfluss auf das Walker 256 Karzinom. Helenalin ist das erste Sesquiterpen vom Pseudoguaianolid Typ, welches in vivo eine solche antineoplastische Aktivität zeigt.

The natriuretic action of [4-Leucine]-arginine-vasotocin

Zusammenfassung [Leu⁴]-Arginin-vasotocin wirkt so wohl an Katzen (Chloralose-Narkose, Mannit-Diurese) als auch an wachen Ratten (mit 0.9%-iger NACl-Lösung belastet) und wachen nicht vorbehandelten Hunden natriuretisch und diuretisch.     

In vitro primary immune response resulting from the interaction between bone marrow-derived and thymus cells

Riassunto Globuli rossi di pecora inducono in vitro, in colture miste di cellule spleniche di topi timectomizzati e timociti di topi normali, una risposta immune di tipo emolitico paragonabile a quella di cellule spleniche di topi normali. I dati indicano che la risposta immune delle colture miste risulta dall'interazione dell'antigene con timociti e cellule spleniche di origine midollare.

Suppression of erythropoiesis by administration of deoxycorticosterone and corticosterone

Résumé Les stéroïdes surrénaux, déoxycorticostérone et corticostérone font diminuer l'érythropoïèse chez la souris femelle. La suppression produite par le corticostérone a lieu plus tôt et est plus grande que celle qui résulte du traitement au déoxycorticostérone.

Reserpine-induced depletion of gastric vitamin B12-binding proteins in the rat

Zusammenfassung Reserpin mobilisiert Histamin und den «Intrinsic factor» aus dem Rattenmagen. Eine trunkuläre Vagotomie hebt diese Wirkung von Reserpin auf. Reserpin hat keinen Effekt auf den «Intrinsic factor» des Magens von Maus, Hamster, Meerschweinchen und Kaninchen.
