Mass fragmentographic determination of cholecalciferol and 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in human serum

Summary The serum extracts were purified by column-, thin layer- and high pressure liquid chromatography. Deuterated cholecalciferol and deuterated 25-hydroxycholecalciferol were used as internal standards. The quantitative analysis was performed using GC-mass fragmentography technique of TMS-ethers.

Zusammenfassung Die exterozeptive Aufsetzreaktion der Hinterpfote der Katze nach verschiedenartigen Rückenmarksverletzungen ist untersucht worden. Nach Entfernung des Hinterstranges bleibt dieselbe erhalten, sie verschwindet nach oberflächlicher Verletzung im medialen dorsalen Teil des Seitenstranges. Es wird angenommen, dass eine in diesem Rückenmarksteil verlaufende exterozeptive Bahn der afferente Schenkel der Aufsetzreaktion ist.     

The effect of sulfhydryl reagents upon the activity of 40S ribosomal subunits

Summary p-Chloromercuribenzoate inhibited the poly (U)-dependent binding of Phe-tRNA to the 40S ribosomal subunit but displayed no inhibitory effect on the binding of poly (U) to the ribosome. Other sulfhydryl reagents tested, likeN-ethylmaleimide and iodoacetamide, did not affect the binding of Phe-tRNA to the small ribosomal subunit.

Summary Studying the acoustic behaviour of the midwife toad, the mating call was found to be influenced by the air temperature and the size of the animals. When the air temperature rises the number of calls/min and the basic frequency exhibit a positive linear regression, the duration of the calls a negative linear regression. As the animals grow the frequency decreases while the duration increases.     

Immunpräzipitation Insulin-verwandter proteine mit ziegen-anti-insulinserum

Summary Bovine insulin, proinsulin, and intermediate form were prepared by Sephadex gelfiltration and chromatography on DEAE-cellulose. Using a goat anti-insulin serum, the cross-reactions of proinsulin and intermediate form could be shown by immuno-precipitation. A method is described for the separation of proinsulin from insulin in agar gel. New compounds related to proinsulin or insulin were found in human insulin preparations by means of immunoelectrophoresis.

Klangspektrographische Untersuchung der Lautäusserung beim Krallenfrosch,Xenopus laevis

Summary Three different calls of the clawed toadXenopus laevis are described and their sound spectrograms are presented. The male and female have one characteristic call each, which is heard during clasping after stimulating the mating behaviour with chorionic gonadotropin. A second call of the male is heard without hormone treatment, often after feeding or change of water.
