Summary Leukocytic cells after slight damage produce stimulation of migration of other normal leucocytes; normal leukocytes inhibit to some extent migration of other normal leukocytes, killed leukocytes have no effect. The significance of this result is, that secondary accumulation of leukocytes with not primary chemotactic substances may be explained by the interaction of damaged leukocytes.

Drosophila enzyme-genetics: A table

Zusammenfassung Durch Verwendung elektrophoretischer Enzym-Mutanten ist es möglich, beiDrosophila melanogaster die chromosomale Position der entsprechenden Strukturgene zu bestimmen. Über 20 Gene sind auf diese Weise lokalisiert worden. Untersuchung der Gewebe-und Stadienspezifität dieser Enzyme, im Verband mit zytogenetischer Analyse der Riesenchromosomen, verspricht wertvolle Einblicke in das Problem der Genregulation. In den vorliegenden Tabellen sind die bereits erzielten Ergebnisse zusammengestellt.

Summary Bacterial polysaccharides, which exhibit an intense specific stimulating effect on the migration of leucocytes, provoke no trypan blue reaction on the intracutaneous vesicle. Certain mucoproteins show both effects, others only provoke the formation of vesicles. Both reactions are thus separable components of the phenomenon of inflammation.

Summary Pronounced stimulation of leucocytic migration can be produced by addition of low concentrations of different anti-chicken anti-sera to chicken leucocytes migrating in corresponding plasma. The effective substance is present in the precipitate produced by precipitating anti-serum.     

Quantitative Versuche zur Krebserzeugung mit 4-Dimethylamino-stilben an Ratten

Summary Quantitative experiments in rats fed with 4-dimethylaminostilbene proved that the induction of ear-duct cancer is an irreversible summation action, similar to the production of hepatomas with 4-dimethylaminoazobenzene.

Dose relationships of morning bright white light in seasonal affective disorders (SAD)

Summary Bright white full spectrum light (>2500 lux) can improve depressive symptomatology in a selected group of patients with recurrent autumn and winter depression. This crossover study demonstrates that 0.5-h morning white light is not an effective treatment, whereas 2-h is.

By means of gas chromatographic and mass spectroscopic methods, and combined GC-electroantennogram and electrosensillogram techniques, (E)-11-hexadecenal and (10E, 12E)-10,12-hexadecadienal [(E,E)-bombykal is also the main constituent of the pheromone of the silver-striped hawk-mothHippotion celerio.
