Occurrence of 3-epi-22-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone and its phosphoric ester in diapause eggs of the silkworm,Bombyx mori

Ecdysteroids in diapause eggs of the silkworm,Bombyx mori, were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) combined with radioimmunoassay (RIA). A relatively large amount of an unidentified free ecdysteroid and its phosphoric ester (conjugated form) were detected. These two compounds were isolated by a combination of column chromatography on silicic acid, thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and HPLC using a reverse-phase (RP) column. The purified compounds were identified as 3-epi-22-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone (22d20E) and 3-epi-22-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone 2-phosphate (22d20E2P) by means of mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. to our knowledge, this is the first report of 22d20E and 22d20E2P.

采用雪崩热电子注入技术和高频Ｃ－Ｖ准静态Ｃ－Ｖ特性测试,研究了新型快速热氮化的ＳｉＯｘＮｙ介质膜界面陷阱的特征,侧重于研究界面陷阱的特性与分布。结果表明：这种ＳｉＯｘＮｙ薄膜禁带中央界面陷阱密度随氮化时间的分布变化呈现”回转效应“,且存在着不同类型、密度悬殊很大的电子陷阱、指出雪崩热电子注入过程中在Ｓｉ／ＳｉＯｘＮｙ界面上产生两种性质不同的快界面态陷阱;给出了这两种界面态陷阱密度在禁带中能量的分布     

Optical properties of NdxGd1−xAl3(BO3)4 crystal

The optical properties of Nd x Gd 1-x Al\-3(BO\-3)\-4 (NGAB) crystal are reported. The refractive index of it were mesured by V_prism method. The absorption spectra and the flourescence specra of NGAB were also obtained. The optical parameters of NGAB were calculated following J_O theory, the three optical parameters are Ω 2 =1 805×10 -20 , Ω 4=1 85×10 -20 , Ω 6=3 793×10 -20 (RMS=1 4×10 -7 ) and β c( 4F 3/2 → 4I 11/2 ) is about 0 53.     

2-Carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide,a synthetic organogermanium compound,as an inducer of contrasuppressor T cells

2-Carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide (Ge-132), a synthesized organogermanium compound with immunomodulaing activities, was shown to be an inducer of anti-suppressor T cells in normal mice. The suppressor cell activity of T6S cells, a clone of burn-induced CD8⁺ IL-4-producing suppressor T cells, was clearly inhibited when a mixed lymphocyte-tumor cell reaction of the clone was conducted with splenic mononuclear cells from mice treated orally with a 100 mg/kg dose of Ge-132. The activity of anti-suppressor cells was demonstrated in spleens of mice 2 days after treatment with Ge-132 and reached its peak on day 3. The anti-suppressor cells induced by the compound were of a contrasuppressor T cell-linage, because they were characterized as CD4⁺ CD28⁺ TCR/⁺ Vicia villosa lectin-adherent T cells. These cells produced IFN- but did not produce IL-2, IL-4, IL-6 or IL-10 in their culture fluids. CD4⁺ anti-suppressor T cells induced by Ge-132 may be different from other subsets of CD4⁺ T cells because Th1 and Th2 cells generated in our laboratory did not adhere toVicia villosa lectin-coated petri dishes, and each produced specific cytokines. Th1 cells produced IFN- and IL-2 while Th2 cells produce IL-4 and IL-10 in vitro. These results suggest that Ge-132 may be useful as an inducer of contrasuppressor T cells in immunocompromised individuals bearing suppressor T cells. To eliminate suppressor T cells from immunocompromised hosts may result in improved resistance from various opportunistic infections.     

The scent scale substances of malePieris butterflies (Pieris melete andPieris napi)

Summary 7 monoterpenes, -pinene, -pinene, myrcene, p-cymene, limonene, neral and geranial, were identified together with n-undecane in the scent scales ofP. melete, and also, together with considerable amounts of linalool, in the scent scales ofP. napi. Content ratio of neral to geranial inP. melete ranged from 0.77 to 1.04, and that inP. napi from 1.84 to 2.43. The present chemotaxonomic approach shows the 2 species ofPieris to be distinct.The authors thank Dr T. Effects of thyrotrophic-releasing hormone (TRH) on thermoregulation in the rat

At ambient temperatures (Ta) of both 8 and 22 degrees C, intraventricular administration of TRH (10-80 microgram) produced a dose-dependent hypothermia in rats. The hypothermia was due to both decreased metabolic heat production and cutaneous vasodilatation. In contrast, at 30 degrees C Ta, TRH increased metabolic heat production (due to behavioral excitation) and led to hyperthermia.     

The C-terminal sequence of human and porcine antithrombin III and its homology with human α-1-proteinase inhibitor

Summary The C-terminal amino acid sequences of human and of porcine antithrombin III have been determined as Gly-Arg-Val-Ala-Asn-Pro-Cys-Val-Lys and Gly-Arg-Val-Ala-Asn-Pro-Cys, respectively. These sequences are highly homologous with the C-terminal sequence of human -1-proteinase inhibitor.     

Active site structural change of α-chymotrypsin due to 2-halogeno-ethanols; comparison with ethanol, 1-propanol,and urea

Summary 2-Halogeno-ethanols change the active site structure of -chymotrypsin more rapidly and effectively than ethanol, 1-propanol and urea, probably before producing an extensive conformation change.     

Alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors in rat myocardium membranes after prolonged ethanol inhalation

Summary After 3 weeks of continuous ethanol intoxication by inhalation, the maximal number and affinity of the -and -receptors of rat heart were unchanged. These data indicate that adrenergic receptor disturbances are not involved in the mechanism of chronic ethanol-induced triglyceride deposition in the heart.Acknowledgments.
