Membrane potential of a ranvier node measured after electrical destruction of its membrane

Zusammenfassung Mit Hilfe starker positiver Impulse ist es möglich, durch elektrischen Durchschlag die erregbare Membran eines einzelnen bespülten Ranvier-Knotens vollständig zu zerstören und das Membranpotential zu null zu machen. Auf diese Weise ist es möglich, auch mit Aussenelektroden Anhaltspunkte über die absolute Grösse des Membranpotentials zu erhalten und den Kurzschlussfaktor zu berechnen, falls der Längswiderstand zwischen den Ableitelektroden nicht ohnehin so hoch ist, dass der Kurzschlussfaktor praktisch gleich eins ist und die absoluten Werte direkt gemessen werden können.

Relationships between the chemical structures and the biological properties of the posterior pituitary hormones and their synthetic analogues

Résumé Afin de mettre en évidence l'influence de faibles modifications de structure sur les propriétés biologiques, les auteurs comparent, à l'aide d'une série de tableaux systématiques, les structures chimiques et les propriétés pharmacologiques des hormones post-hypophysaires avec celles de près de quarante de leurs analogues synthétiques, qui ont été étudiés d'une manière approfondie. Cette confrontation montre qu'il est possible de découvrir quelques relations limitées entre la spécificité biologique de ces corps et certaines particularités de leur structure.     

Zur Leberregeneration der Ratte nach Teilhepatektomie während akuter CCl4-Intoxikation

Summary Following 2/3 hepatectomy + CCl₄, the labelling- (³H-thymidine) and mitosis-index of liver epithelia increases 8 h later than after an unique 2/3 hepatectomy, and the peak of compensatory regeneration is reached 16 h later. Then the curve declines and 48 h post operationem reparative regeneration due to CCl₄ necrosises starts.
