Comparison study of chitosan/β-cyclodextrin and carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres

To compare two microspheres of chitosan/β-cyclodextrin and carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin loaded theophylline as pulmonary sustained drug delivery carriers, the characteristics and ciliotoxicity were studied. The drug loadings of chitosan/β-cyclodextrin and carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres were 21.09% and 21.42%, and the encapsulation efficiencies were 91.40% and 92.80%. The distributions of 50% (d _0.5) of chitosan/β-cyclodextrin and carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres were 4.89 and 5.83 μm, respectively. Both microspheres showed spherical shape with smooth or wrinkled surfaces. FT-IR of chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres demonstrated that theophylline had formed hydrogen bonds with chitosan and β-cyclodextrin, while for the carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres theophylline had interaction with carboxymethyl chitosan. The moisture absorption showed that an equilibrium was reached within 24 h. The two microspheres possessed better adaptability. In vitro release of theophylline from chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres was slower than that from carboxymethyl chitosan/β-cyclodextrin microspheres at pH 6.8. Thermochemical sulfate reduction in fossil Ordovician deposits of the Majiang area: Evidence from a molecular-marker investigation

The main reservoirs of Majiang fossil deposits consist of the Silurian Wengxiang group, dominantly sandstones, and the Ordovician Honghuayuan formation, dominantly carbonate rocks, and the Lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation mudstones serve as the major source rocks. Thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) might have taken place in the Paleozoic marine carbonate oil pools, as indicated by high concentrations of dibenzothiophenes in the extracts (MDBT=0.27–4.32 μg/g extract, and MDBT/MPH= 0.71–1.38). Hydrocarbons in the Pojiaozhai Ordovician carbonate reservoirs have undergone severe TSR and are characterized by higher quantities of diamondoids and MDBT and heavier isotopic values (δ ¹³C=?28.4‰). The very large amounts of dibenzothiophenes might be products of reactions between biphenyls and sulfur species associated with TSR.

Sequence analysis of the Microcystis aeruginosa FACHB-912 phytochrome gene supports positive selection in cyanobacteria

The phytochrome gene from Microcystis aeruginosa FACHB-912,isolated from algal blooms in Taihu Lake in China,was sequenced and found to code for a wavelength transition light receptor protein.The gene was composed of five distinct domains:a PAS fold domain,a GAF domain,a phytochrome domain,a His Kinase A(phosphoacceptor) domain,and a histidine kinase domain.Red-absorbing phytochrome,far-red-absorbing phytochrome,and photoconversion kinetics were monitored via the spectral characteristics of the protein.To detect positive selection,homologous sequences from cyanobacterium phytochrome genes were obtained from GenBank.Potential selective pressure was identified by phylogenetic analysis with maximum likelihood analyses.The frequency of the phytochrome gene being subjected to selective constraints suggests that positive selection is a potentially important mechanism that promotes the evolution of the cyanobacteria phytochrome gene.The sites identified in this study provide targets for further research on the structural-functional role of these residues,and on the correlation with the mechanism of algal blooms.     

互通区跨线桥邻近路基墩柱偏移事故分析

结合工程实例分析了跨线桥墩柱偏移的原因,提出了偏移墩柱的处治措施.首先,通过现场实测揭示了邻近路基墩柱的变位性状,采用低应变动测评测了桥墩桩身损伤情况,并基于场区地基软土性状分析,指出邻近路基堆载是引起墩柱偏移的根本原因.然后,基于应变楔分析模型,提出了一种以桩顶位移为计算控制条件的桩身受力分析方法,并通过工程实例验证了该方法的合理性.最后,根据各桥墩支座偏位量情况,结合桩身受力验算与Bozozuk分析评价标准,对支座位移不大于50 mm的墩柱采用平衡堆载的处治方法;对支座位移大于50 mm的墩柱采用桩基顶推联合墩柱牵引的纠偏处治措施.结果表明,处治后墩柱支座偏移量分别降低了10.7%～43.7%和79.7%～100%,处治效果良好,对类似工程具有借鉴意义.
