R gene expression induced by a type-III effector triggers disease resistance in rice

Disease resistance (R) genes in plants encode products that specifically recognise incompatible pathogens and trigger a cascade of events leading to disease resistance in the host plant. R-gene specificity is dictated by both host R genes and cognate avirulence (avr) genes in pathogens. However, the basis of gene-for-gene specificity is not well understood. Here, we report the cloning of the R gene Xa27 from rice and the cognate avr gene avrXa27 from Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. Resistant and susceptible alleles of Xa27 encode identical proteins. However, expression of only the resistant allele occurs when a rice plant is challenged by bacteria harbouring avrXa27, whose product is a nuclear localized type-III effector. Induction of Xa27 occurs only in the immediate vicinity of infected tissue, whereas ectopic expression of Xa27 resulted in resistance to otherwise compatible strains of the pathogen. Thus Xa27 specificity towards incompatible pathogens involves the differential expression of the R gene in the presence of the AvrXa27 effector.     

Sap flow response of Eucaylyptus （Eucalyptus urophyila） to environmental stress in South China

Sap flow and environmental conditions were monitored at two Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus urophylla S.T.Blake) plantations at Hetou and Jijia, located in Leizhou, Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. It was found that daily sap flux density (SFD) of Eucalyptus was closely related to daily atmospheric vapor pressure deficit (VPD) (R2 = 0.76, P = 0.01 at Hetou and R2 = 0.7021, P = 0.01 at Jijia) at both sites. No significant relationship existed between daily SFD and mean daily air temperature at both sites. Daily SFD varied with wind speed Y = -17585X3 + 15147X2 - 1250.7X + 2278.4 (R2 = 0.68; P = 0.01) at Hetou and Y = -101.67X3 - 1.65X2 - 376.4X + 1914.8 (R2 = 0.40, P = 0.05) at Jijia, where Y was daily SFD, X was daily wind speed. Experimental observations yielded the following data: (1) the critical lower and upper daily VPD threshold were 0 and 2 kPa, within which daily SFD varied from 540+/-70 L/(m2.d) to 4739+/-115 L/(m2.d) at Hetou site, from 397+/-26 L/(m2.d) to 3414+/-191 L/(m2.d) at Jijia site; (2) Diurnal SFDs at Hetou site were much higher under low relative humidity (< 30%) and slightly lower under high relative humidity (> 80%) compared with those at the Jijia site; (3) The upper and lower threshold of daily and diurnal RAD for the optimal water use of E. urophylla plantations were 18+/-2.7 and 2+/-1 MJ/(m2.d), 669 and 0 J/(cm2.h) during the observation period.     

温度对Cu-Zn二元系粉末机械合金化的影响

将Cu-40%Zn(40%为质量分数)二元系粉末在-30℃和常温下进行高能球磨,并利用X射线衍射仪及扫描电子显微镜对球磨过程中的组织演变过程及微观形貌进行了研究.研究结果表明:Cu-40%Zn二元系粉末的机械合金化过程是一个Cu向Zn中扩散、固溶与反应的过程,最终产物为Cu0.64Zn0.36(α相)与少量的ZnO相;低温球磨合金粉末的晶格畸变量与晶粒尺寸都比常温球磨的大;与常温球磨不同,低温球磨可以抑制冷焊所带来的不良影响,避免添加过程控制剂,而且体系呈现脆性-脆性特征.     

基于网格的医疗信息集成及图像处理应用

针对目前医院信息系统中存在的信息孤岛现象,提出了基于网格技术和网格工具的解决方案,研发了基于中国网格公共支撑平台(CGSP)的医学图像网格平台MedImGrid,互连各种异构医疗资源,有效整合分布在各家医院和医疗研究机构的大量医疗数据与信息,实现了对异构医疗信息、病例图片、医学专家知识等信息资源的共享和集成,为用户提供广域范围内的医疗信息查询和病例图片检索,并支持基于断层图片的三维重建、基于特征值的图像检索与辅助诊断等医学图像处理应用.     

Phase transitions in the incoherent lattice fluctuations in YBa2Cu3O(7-delta)

The growing body of experimental evidence for the existence of complex textures of charges and spins in the high-temperature superconductors has drawn attention to the so-called 'stripe-phase' models as a possible basis for the mechanism of superconductivity in these materials. Such observations have until now been restricted to systems where the texture dynamics are slow or suppressed altogether, and do not include the important case of YBa2Cu3O(7-delta). It seems likely that the dynamic behaviour of stripes, which has been suggested to undergo several phase transitions as a function of temperature, should also be reflected in the lattice properties of the host materials, and this forms the motivation for our present experiments. Specifically, we use MeV helium ion channelling, an ultrafast real-space probe of atomic displacements (with sub-picometre resolution), to probe incoherent lattice fluctuations in YBa2Cu3O(7-delta) as a function of temperature and oxygen doping. We detect lattice fluctuations that are larger than the expected thermal vibration component, and which show anomalies characteristic of the phase transitions anticipated for a dynamic stripe phase. Comparison of our lattice results with single-particle-tunnelling and photoemission data highlights the importance of spin-charge separation phenomena in the copper oxide superconductors.     

苯乙酰异谷氨酰胺类化合物合成及抗肿瘤活性

苯乙酰异谷酰胺作为抗癌酮（Antineoplaston A10）在体内的一种降解产物，具有一定程度的抗肿瘤活性。为此设计并合成了一些新的苯乙酰异谷氨酰胺类化合物以测试其抗肿瘤活性。合成中采用在酸性条件下，先选择性地对L－谷氨酸γ位羧基进行酯化，再进一步合成目标化合物，反应条件温和，收率好。所合成化合物结构经IR、^1HNMR及元素分析鉴定，对所合成的目标化合物的抗肿瘤活性采用MTT法对体外培养的乳腺癌细胞成活率进行了测试，初步结果显示有一定抑制肿瘤细胞存活的作用。     

工业五氧化二钒制备V2O5半导体薄膜分析

用攀钢工业V2O5为原料采用无机溶胶－凝胶法制备V2O5溶胶和凝胶，并用此胶体不同衬底上制备出透明的半导体V2O5薄膜。研究了胶体粘度对涂膜的影响，以及薄膜电阻率与温度、烘干处理和厚度的关系。用扫描电子显微镜（SEM）研究了薄膜的微观形貌，用XRD研究了薄膜的成份及其变化。结果表明：胶体粘度对涂膜有较大影响；温度、湿份、薄膜厚度对薄膜电阻率均有较大影响；V2O5薄膜由针状V2O5颗粒组成，在衬度上呈均匀分布，且结构比较密集，其颗粒径向尺寸为0.5-1.0μm，长度方向为3.0-5.0μm。烘干处理后颗粒轮廓略有模糊、结构稀疏且尺寸有所长大，同时新生成了一些钒化合物。
