Zusammenfassung Es wird eine schnellamperometrische Methode für die Bestimmung von UO ₂ ⁺⁺ Ionen beschrieben: Titrium gegen Sodium-Orthovanatlösung mit E_d.e.=–0.85 v (vs. SCE). Bei einem Uranylinhalt bis 0.5 mM kann so noch eine Genauigkeit von 1% festgestellt werden.     

Chemical composition of sewage-grownSpirulina platensis

Summary Spirulina platensis has been grown in an outdoor pilot production unit, with an exposed surface area of 450 m², on a medium consisting of raw domestic sewage supplemented with sodium bicarbonate and nitrate or urea fertilizer. The chemical composition and yield of the biomass grown on sewage-nitrate was comparable to that grown on synthetic medium. The protein content was much lower in the alga cultivated in sewage-urea medium.NBRI Research Publication No. 143 (NS).     

Interruption of acoustic communication and mating in a leafhopper and a planthopper by aerial sound vibrations picked up by plants

Summary Each sex of the cotton leafhopper and the rice brown planthopper communicates with the opposite sex by certain specific sound vibrations which travel through the plant surface and lead to mating. External sounds of certain frequencies, viz., 200 c/sec, generated by a harmonium or an audio-oscillator are picked up from the air by the plants and interrupt the acoustic communication as well as mating of the insects. Hierarchy and classification of program plan elements using interpretive structural modeling: A case study of energy conservation in the Indian cement industry

A program can be analyzed and studied by dividing it into elements and subelements. Graphical presentation of the driver power and dependence of the subelements of the identified elements assists in their classification in categories representing the nature of the role each subelement plays as a variable in the program. This paper presents methodology for the hierarchy building of subelements, graphical presentation of their driver power and dependence, and classification in categories such as autonomous, dependent, linkages, and independent variables. The paper further presents a case study of energy conservation in the Indian cement industry to determine the hierarchy of program plan elements and to classify them in categories. Key variables of the program are also highlighted.

Summary Out of the 9 new non-alkylating compounds screened againstC. trachypterus, the compounds 62206, 24220 and 51160 have been found most effective, 51007 and 50882 exhibit intermediate effectiveness, 61914 only slightly effective and 50994, 2406 and 51240 almost non-effective.This work was financed out of PL 480 USA funds.
