High poly A content of the native genome of murine oncornaviruses : presence of 65-70 S RNA lacking polyadenylic sequences]

High molecular weight Poly (A) minus RNA was isolated from native genome of murine oncornaviruses. The Poly (A) content of viral genomes seems to depend more on cellular multiplication than viral maturation.     

Forecasting vehicle holdings and usage with a disaggregate choice model

A case study in which a three-stage choice model of Canadian household vehicle holdings and usage is used to generate short-run forecasts of changes in household vehicle usage and gasoline consumption in response to a range of energy-related policies. The objectives of this case study are to (1) demonstrate the application of disaggregate choice modelling methods to the generation of policy-relevant forecasts of travel behaviour; (2) draw implications from this forecasting exercise concerning the likely impacts of various energy-related policies; and (3) assess some of the strengths and weaknesses of the current state-of-the-art of forecasting with disaggregate choice models, using the presented study as a case in point.

Hypertensive eye lesions in the rat. Effect of carotid ligation

Résumé 1^o Un syndrome d'hypertension maligne a été reproduit chez le rat par l'administration d'acétate de désoxycorticostérone (DCA). Ce traitement produisit de l'artériolonécrose des vaisseaux de l'iris et du corps ciliaire, des hémorrhagies dans la chambre antérieure de l'il ainsi que de l'dème et des hémorrhagies cérébraux. 2^o Ces lésions, oculaires et cérébrales, furent complètement prévenues par une ligature bilatérale de l'artère carotide primitive, probablement par suite d'une diminution de pression sanguine dans la région de la tête. Après une ligature unilatérale, l'il homolatéral restait normal tandis que les lésions apparaissaient dans l'autre il; de même, l'hémisphère cérébral homolatéral était normal alors que l'hémisphère contralatéral montrait un dème marqué et de nombreuses hémorrhagies. 3^o Le rôle pathogénique de l'hypertensionper se est discuté brièvement.     

Climbing as an escape behavior in the American hog-nosed skunk, Conepatus leuconotus

Climbing behavior is poorly documented in skunk species, with the exception of the genus Spilogale. Herein we describe 2 cases of climbing behavior in the American hog-nosed skunk ( Conepatus leuconotus ): one in Colima, Mexico, and another in west central Texas, USA. In both cases, a male climbed over 5 m into oak trees when pursued by humans. Climbing as an escape behavior in hog-nosed skunks has not previously been reported.
