The suppression of mouse spontaneous locomotor activity by the ingestion of deuterium oxide.

The spontaneous locomotor activity of the laboratory mouse is significantly depressed by the ingestion of deuterium oxide. The response, which is reversible, is a retilinear one with up to 70% reduction in activity with the administration of 25% heavy water.     

Regulation of enzymes of ethanol metabolism in yeast (Rhodotorula gracilis)

Summary The three enzymes of ethanol metabolism alcohol dehydrogenase, aldehyde dehydrogenase and acetyl-CoA synthetase in the obligate aerobic yeastRhodotorula gracilis are repressed by glucose and induced by C₂ metabolic fuels with a regulatory pattern indicating a correlation in the control mechanisms. To try an identification of the molecular signals involved in the transmission of the inducing stimulus, experiments were carried out by blocking with 2 mM pyrazole the ethanol acetaldehyde metabolic step. Results indicate that ethanol is not specifically required as a molecular signal for induction.This work was supported by a grant from the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.     

DDT: The degradation of ring-labeled14C-DDT to14CO2 in the rat

Summary Ring fission ofp, p-DDT was studied in the rat following a single oral dose of 0.74 mg/kg (1.04 Ci) of uniformly ring-labeled¹⁴C-DDT. Expired air was passed through a solution of ethanolamine-ethylene glycol monomethyl ether (12) to trap¹⁴CO₂. A total of 1.6% of the radioactivity administered was recovered in the expired air collected continually for 10 days, indicating that while degradation of the phenyl moiety is not a major route pfp, p-DDT metabolism in the rat, it is equal to the urinary excretion. Nevertheless, these results represent the most radical change accomplished in vivo of a residual insecticide yet reported in mammals.Acknowledgment. Blood plasma investigations by resonance raman spectroscopy: Detection of carotenoid pigments

Summary Using Raman spectroscopy, we demonstrate that low levels of -carotene, lycopene, and xanthophyll give rise to resonance enhanced bands in blood plasma. These results explain the significance of previously unidentified spectral maxima which have been related to the state of health of the blood donor.     

关于污染线性回归模型参数估计的注记

文[1] 、[2] 研究了简单回归模型中响应变量受到另一随机变量序列污染时，模型参数和污染系数的估计方法，但在 利用误差的不同阶矩估计给出污染系数的估计时发生了错误。我们证明了这种方法是行不通的。     

水滑石与氢氧化镁纳米晶的液相法制备及其生成机制

研究了纳米晶镁铝水滑石Mg6Al2(OH)16CO3·4H2O与 Mg(OH)2 的液相法制备及其物相变化.X射线衍射(XRD)和透射电镜(TEM)分析表明,在制备温度分别为30 ℃的低温和190 ℃的高温,可获得纯度大于99%的氢氧化镁针状纳米晶,在45~150 ℃的中间温度范围,可获得纯度大于 99%的镁铝水滑石针状纳米晶.合成温度由35 ℃提高到45 ℃时,生成物相由氢氧化镁变成镁铝水滑石相;合成温度由 170 ℃提高到190 ℃时,生成物相由镁铝水滑石相变成氢氧化镁相.提出低温时生成物的变化与瞬间生成无定形态的Mg(OH)2 有关,无定形态的Mg(OH)2 沉淀为Al13(OH)7 32 中铝离子以及CO2-3 扩散进入Mg(OH)2提供了更为有利的条件.高温时生成物的变化,是由于温度的升高,使含结晶水的镁铝水滑石纳米晶中间层中的高极性水分子堆积所要求的一定的物理条件受到破坏所致.

Synthesis and Characterization of Porphyrin-Trisbenzimidazole Dinucleating Ligand and Its Heterodinuclear Complex as CcO Active Site Model

A new dinucleating ligand having two metal-binding sites has been designed and synthesized as model ligand for Cytochrome c Oxidase. The corresponding heterodi-nuclear complex, as an active site model of Cytochrome c Oxidase, consisting of a porphyrinatocobalt compound covalently linked with a copper derivative of tris(2-benzimidazylmethyl) amine bearing three benzimidazole ligands for copper was synthesized and spectroscopically characterized. The spectra data suggest that there are interactions between the cobalt and copper coordination units. The cobalt is coordinated to four central nitrogens of the porphyrin and the copper has pentaco-ordinate geometry with the four tertiary amine nitrogens and a chloride.     

离心风机蜗壳进口周向来流的非均匀性对其旋涡流动影响的数值研究

运用CFD技术对一离心风机整机作数值模拟，研究了蜗壳进口周向非均匀来流对其内旋涡结构、演化过程的影响．计算结果表明，蜗壳内各径向截面上产生了3个旋涡，一个进口涡和一对梯形涡，且都经历了初生、发展、耗散和溃灭等过程．与单蜗壳在周向均匀来流的假设下计算所得的旋涡结构相比，两者存在很大的差别，这说明只有考虑蜗壳来流的非均匀性影响，才能比较准确地模拟其内的旋涡运动．     

南澳岛及其附近岛屿夏季鸟类的初步调查

作者一行于 2 0 0 1年夏季对南澳及其附近岛屿的鸟类资源状况进行了调查研究 .结果发现 ,南澳及其附近岛屿有鸟类 51种 ,隶属 1 3目 2 8科 ,其中雀形目 2 3种 ,占所发现种类的 45% ,非雀形目 2 8种 ,占 55% ;国家一、二级保护动物各一种 ,分别为 :白腹军舰鸟 (F regataandrewsi)和岩鹭 (Egretta sacra) .按鸟类的栖息和迁徙习惯划分 ,有海鸟 8种 ,湿地候鸟 2种 ,湿地留鸟 9种 ,陆地候鸟 4种 ,陆地留鸟 2 8种 .在所有鸟类中以褐翅燕鸥 (Sterna anae-thetus)为优势种 ,数量最大 ,分布最广 .
