A rapid micro radial electrophoretic method of protein separation on cellulose acetate membranes

Summary A new rapid micromethod for protein separation under a radial electric field is described. As many as 12 rabbit serum samples could be separated in 4–6 min.The authors are thankful to Dr P.K. Telocentric chromosomes in pearl millet,Pennisetum typhoides

Summary InPennisetum typhoides S. and H., a new karyotype was found with 13 normal chromosomes and 2 stable telocentric chromosomes, which represent 1 arm each of a submetacentric chromosome.The authors are thankful to Dr.J. Splenic enzyme systems as affected by hypothyroidism during pregnancy

Summary Influence of thyroid hormones on splenic activities and the role of the spleen during pregnancy were not known. The present study revealed that increased enzyme activities of spleen are associated with pregnancy, and hypothyroidism during gestation led to decreased activities, indicating that the thyroid gland influences them.The authors gladly acknowledge the encouragement given by Dr M. Effect of fluoride on in vivo nitrate reduction in rice leaves (Oryza sativa L.)

Summary Fluoride had no effect on in vitro nitrate reductase activity in rice leaves, but in vivo activity was strongly inhibited. It is suggested that fluoride brings about this inhibition by adversely affecting the physiological NADH generating system required for in vivo nitrate reduction.Acknowledgments. We thank Dr M.S. DNA synthesis in exocrine and endocrine pancreas after partial hepatectomy in Syrian golden hamsters

3H-thymidine autoradiography showed an enhanced DNA synthesis in acinar and islet cells of pancreas after partial hepatectomy in syrian golden hamsters. A significant nuclear labeling index of acinar cells was observed between 48 and 84 h and reached control levels by 120 h. An increased labeling index of islet cells was also observed, however, this increase was not statistically significant. These results indicate growth factor(s) produced after partial hepatectomy is capable of inducing DNA synthesis in pancreas.     

Toxic effects of methylmercury on spermatozoa in vitro

Summary In an in vitro investigation, methylmercury (MeHg) reduced the motility of rat spermatozoa probably by the inhibition of succinate dehydrogenase and ATPase activities. Concomitant morphological changes observed in the spermatozoa were coiled tails and kinks in midpiece and tail regions.

一种混合的中文分词算法

给出了一种将基于统计与基于词典方法融合而成的混合中文分词方法,利用统计方法进行词典的动态扩展,克服了基于词典算法对"完全词典"的依赖;利用词典对统计的一些参数进行估计,避免了以往靠实验得到这些参数的不确定性,同时将RMM算法与统计算法结合起来.最后通过仿真说明该混合算法比传统的基于词典和基于统计的方法更有效.
