Tetraethyl lead dose response curve for mortality in laboratory rats

Résumé On a donné à 96 rats mâles albinos six doses différentes de plomb tétra-éthyle par intubation intragastrique. Une courbe dose-réaction a été établie à partir des résultats obtenus et les calculs ont donné une valeur LD₅₀ de 12,3 mg/kg (11,50 à 13,15). Cette valeur diffère de celle qui a été obtenue précédemment. On croit que cette différence résulte du fait qu'un nombre plus grand d'échantillons a été utilisé dans cette série d'observations.     

An alternative route for biosynthesis of methylhistamine: In vitro and in vivo formation through decarboxylation ofl-3-methylhistidine

Résumé On a mis en évidence chez le Rat une formation de méthylhistamine-³H par décarboxylation de lal-3-méthylhistidine-³H. Cette réaction se produit in vitro et in vivo dans des tissus riches en histidine décarboxylase et elle est prévenue par un inhibiteur de cette enzyme. Les implications biologiques de l'existence de cette nouvelle voie métabolique sont envisagées.     

A method for distinguishing Tetrodotoxin from Saxitoxin,by comparing their relative stabilities when heated in acid solution

Resumen La tetrodotoxina pierde toxicidad rapidamente cuando se calienta en solución acida por debajo de pH 2, mientras que la saxitoxina es estable. Se puede distinguir facilmente entre estos venenos calentándolos a 100°C en solution pH 1.0 durante 20–30 min.

Conformation and toxicity of amanitins

Zusammenfassung Die Cottoneffekte der Amanitine konnten dem Indolteil bzw. den Amidgruppen des Molekühls zugeordnet werden. Das untoxische Amanullin besitzt die gleiche Konformation wie die toxischen Peptide, das untoxische Aldoamanitin dagegen eine andere. Die absolute Konfiguration der Sulfoxidgruppe der Amatoxine ist identisch mit der des toxischen Phalloidinsulfoxids.

Effects of some oligopeptides,consisting of aromatic amino acids,on the excitability of an identifiable giant neurone of an African giant snail (Achatina fulica Férussac)

Summary L-Phe-L-Tyr and L-Lys-L-Phe-L-Tyr showed a marked inhibitory effect (not chloride-dependent) on the excitability of an identifiable giant neurone (the TAN) of Achatina fulica Férussac, while L-Tyr-L-phe, L-Tyr-L-Tyr, L-Phe-L-Phe, L-Lys-L-Phe and Z-L-Phe-L-Tyr (Z-: carbobenzoxy) had no effect.Authors wish to thank Dr Atsuo Inoue of Daiichi Pharmaceutical Co. for his helpful advice, and Miss Hiroko Tamura for her technical assistance.     

Circadian change of sweating rate measured locally by the resistance hygrometry method in man.

There existed circadian change in the sweating rate locally measured from the anterior of the left thigh: the sweating rate showed a remarkable decline during the period 2.00--5.00 h, while at other times throughout the day it generally remained high. This reduction seemed to be independent of sleep or sleeplessness.
