Highly purified noradrenaline storage vesicles from bovine splenic nerve trunk: Preliminary electron microscopy

Résumé Les vésicules de la NA du nerf splénique de Buf ont été obtenues par gradient de centrifugation («sucrose-heavy water»), Le rapport NA/protéine observé est de 4 à 7 fois plus élevé que celui qui a été mentionné précédemment. L'examen préliminaire de cette fraction, par microscopie électronique, révèle une couche importante et pratiquement pure de vésicules à la surface du sédiment.

Basic proteins of mouse ova and blastocysts

Zusammenfassung Mit einer speziellen Färbetechnik auf basische Proteine wird gezeigt, dass die Intensität und damit auch die Quantität der basischen Proteine beim übergang vom 4-Zell-Stadium zum 8-Zell-Stadium im Cytoplasma stark zunimmt. Daraus wird der Schluss gezogen, dass erst zu diesem Zeitpunkt die genetische Information für die Proteinsynthese wirksam wird.

Summary The electroretinogram of the isolated cat retina in response to incremental stimuli was studied with varying intensities of background and/or stimulus. The results are explained in terms of known components.     

SEM observation of cultured,mitogen-stimulated leukocytes. Cells obtained from patients with acute myeloblastic and chronic lymphocytic leukemias

Summary SEM observation of acute myeloblastic leukemia cells, incubated for 20 h with the mitogens pokeweed and phytohaemagglutinin, showed these to have elongated structures that were either smooth or partially covered by thumblike figures. Stimulation of sporulation ofClostridium perfringens by papaverine

Summary Papaverine induced sporulation inClostridium perfringens, strains FD-1 and PS52; growth was markedly slowed under these conditions. Papaverine induced sporulation in the presence of glucose, a sporulation repressor, although increasing glucose concentrations overcame the papaverine effect. Papaverine induced sporulation of strain FD-1 more effectively than did theophylline.The author wishes to thank Mrs P.A. Thompson for excellent technical assistance.     

The effect of mouse erythrocyte rosette forming lymphocytes on lymphokine production in T-cell cultures

Summary An enhancement effect of mouse erythrocyte rosette forming (MERF) cells on the production of migration inhibitory factor, chemotactic factor for neutrophils and skin reactive factor in T-lymphocyte cultures stimulated with the purified protein derivative of tuberculin was observed. We consider it likely that the MERF cells, possessing the appropriate cell surface constituents to construct an immunogenic moiety, present antigen on their surfaces to elicit lymphokine production.This work was supported by the Scientific Research Council, Ministry of Health, Hungary, Code No. 421030401 1/s
