On the chromosomic polymorphism ofRattus rattus L. a study on West-European populations

Riassunto Nell'ambito del problema del polimorfismo cromosomico diRattus rattus è stato studiato il cariotipo di varie popolazioni europee (Italia, Svizzera, Francia ed Inghilterra) riferibili alle sottospeciefrugivorus, rattus edalexandrinus. Il numero diploide osservato è sempre stato2n=38 e non è emersa nessuna differenza morfologica tra i cariogrammi delle varie popolazioni.

Induction of chromosome abnormalities by reversal of colcemid inhibition in leucocyte cultures

Zusammenfassung Menschliche Leukozyten, die vorher 2 resp. 4 h der Wirkung von Colcemid ausgesetzt worden waren, ergaben in Zellkulturen 45 resp. über 50% Zellen mit 45 oder weniger Chromosomen im Vergleich zu 10% in Kontrollkulturen ohne Colcemid.

Effect of ultrasonic waves on the ribonuclease activity

Résumé L'irradiation ultrasonique de racines deLens culinaris provoque une baisse de l'activité RNasique dans la zone apicale (0–5 mm). L'ultrason étant non-cavitant, cette réduction d'activité doit être causée par l'action dénaturante liée aux effets thermiques de la perturbation ultrasonique. La relativement haute viscosité cytoplasmique de la zone apicale expliquerait pourquoi celleci est la seule à être affectée.     

Zytophotometrische Untersuchungen an normalen Lymphknotenzellen des Schafes

Summary Cytophotometric investigations of lymphocytic populations of 4 sheeps were carried out to determine the diploid standard value for comparative investigations of lymph node cells from sheep with lymphatic leucosis. Inspite of exact and simultaneous preparation there were marked and significant differences in the histograms as well as in the diagrams of absorption level separation. Therefore, the control of several normal cell populations is essential before starting cytophotometric investigations of neoplastic cells.

Synthesis of rhodotorucine A,the inducing factor of mating tube formation ofRhodosporidium toruloides

Summary The inducing factor of mating tube formation ofRhodosporidium turuloides, named rhodotorucine A (H-Tyr-Pro-Glu-Ile-Ser-Trp-Thr-Arg-Asn-Gly-Cys(S-farnesyl)-OH), has been synthesized to confirm the structure proposed for the natural lipopeptide. The synthetic S-farnesyl undecapeptide has identical Rf values on TLC using several different solvents, and also the same biological activity as the natural hormone.Acknowledgments.
