Summary Live gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria cause circular and chemotactic eccentric promotion of leucocyte emigration in a similar manner. In the case of gramnegative bacteria this effect corresponds to that of their polysaccharides, whereas in the case of gram-positive bacteria the polysaccharides are inactive.Thus, although gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria both have a similar effect on leucocyte emigration, the underlying mechanism of action is different.

Zusammenfassung In 80–85% aller Speicheldrüsenzellen vonChironomus thummi bewirkt 100 g/ml Cordycepin: 1. Fast vollständige Hemmung des³H-Uridin-Einbaues in Chromosomen und Nukleolen. 2. Rückbildung aller vorhandenen Puffs und Kollaps der Balbiani-Ringe und 3. Hemmung der Puff-Induktion durch anorganische (K/Mg) und organische (Tryptophan) Ionen.     

Nachbargruppeneffekt des Pyridinringes beschleunigt alkalische Ester-Hydrolyse

Summary A structural analogue of benzoylcholine is prepared in which the trimethylamino group is replaced by a pyridine ring. Rate measurements are presented to demonstrate that the pyridinium ester I undergoes alkaline hydrolysis faster than the choline ester II. It is suggested that the abnormal rate is due to an unusual type of neighbouring group effect involving anchimeric participation of the pyridine ring.     

Further simplification of a supernatant flow system for tissue culture
