Anatomical identification of the presumed electroreceptors of two air breathing catfishes,Clarias batrachus andHeteropneustes fossilis

Summary Histological preparations for light microscopy have revealed for the first time the structure of the electroreceptor ofClarias batrachus andHeteropneustes fossilis, the 2 Indian air-breathing catfishes. These sensory organs are found to resemble the ampullary organs of many weakly electric and nonelectric electroreceptive teleost.The work was in part supported by grant of SCST (U.P.) during the period 1974–76 which is acknowledged.     

Occurrence of aldehyde-fuchsin and performic acid-victoria blue positive granules in the ovarian pedicle ofDysdercus koenigii F. (Pyrrhocridae: Heteroptera)

Summary A cycle of activity of aldehyde-fuchsin and performic acid-Victoria blue positive granules was observed in the ovarian pedicle ofDysdercus koenigii during the first ovipositional cycle. The quantitative variation of these granules in the pedicle can also be correlated directly with the increase or decrease of the neurosecretory material in the A-type cells of the pars intercerebralis medialis region of the protocerebrum of the brain.The authors are grateful to Director of Research, University of Udaipur, Udaipur (Rajasthan), for providing laboratory facilities.     

The golgi apparatus in the male germ-cells ofVaginula (Pulmonata)

Zusammenfassung Der Verfasser macht am Golgikörper der männlichen Geschlechtszellen vonVaginula eine Nachuntersuchung mit dem Phasenkontrastmikroskop und bestätigt, dass zwischen Golgikörperbildner und Akrosomgenese kein verwandtschaftlicher Zusammenhang besteht. Damit werden entgegenstehende Auffassungen vonNath widerlegt.     

Radioimmunoassay of some hormones simultaneously measured in serum and breast cyst fluid

Summary Blood and breast cyst fluid were drawn simultaneously for hormonal determination. There was no difference between serum and cyst fluid values of PRL and TSH. A significant difference was noted for LH (p<0.01) and FSH (p<0.05), serum concentrations being higher than cyst fluid concentrations.The authors are indebted to Miss J. Meister, E. Dullaert and J.
