Inhibition of methanol metabolism in mice with acetyl salicylic acid

Zusammenfassung Acetylsalicylsäure hemmt die Oxydation von Methanol und Formiat in vivo erheblich, die Katalase nur in vitro, und vermindert den toxischen Effekt der Methanolvergiftung. Der Mechanismus der Methanoloxydationshemmung durch Acetylsalicylsäure könnte eher auf die Verminderung des Peroxyd-Pooles — als die Katalasehemmung — zurückzuführen sein.     

Fine structure of differentiated chromosome segments during the meiosis of pollen mother cells of Allium cepa

Summary Differentiated chromosome segments were observed during studies of pollen mother cells of A. cepa during the first meiotic division. Their structure is like those of the nucleolar organizing region (NOR) described in A. cepa microspores. It is suggested that these differentiated chromosome segments correspond to the secondary constrictions seen under the optical microscope.     

Modification of visual signals by nigral stimulation

Summary Responses of the lateral geniculate neurons to light were modified by stimulation of the substantia nigra. Nigral stimulation often caused enhancement of firing in neurons responding primarily to flash, but it usually had the contrary effect on units inhibited by light.     

Renal function following complete ligation of the renal artery

Zusammenfassung Totale Unterbindung der Nieren arterie führt zu fast vollständigem Erlöschen der Funktion der betreffenden Niere. Wird etwa 81 bis 110 Tagnach der Unterbindung die andere Niere entfernt, se können Hunde ohne Symptome von Niereninsuffizieno überleben: die Entwicklung eines Kollateralkreislaufez stellt die Funktion der ischämisierten Niere wieder her. s     

Timing of single daily meal influences relations among human circadian rhythms in urinary cyclic AMP and hemic glucagon,insulin and iron

Inhibition and enhancement of photically evoked responses by different doses ofl-DOPA

Summary Administration of small doses ofl-DOPA (10 and 20 mg/kg) resulted in reduction in amplitude of photically evoked responses in the primary visual, association, and cerebellar vermal cortices, while large doses (40 and 80 mg/kg) produced enhancement.Acknowledgment.
