Impairments of RNA synthesis in Ehrlich ascites tumour by luteoskyrin,a hepatotoxic pigment ofPenicillium islandicum sopp

Résumé La lutéoskyrine, pigment cartinogène synthétisé par lePenicillium islandicum Sopp, inhibe la synthèse du RNA nucléaire dans la cellule de la tumeur Ehrlich.     

Hypertrophy of pulmonary arteries and arterioles with cor pulmonale in rats induced by seneciphylline,a pyrrolizidine alkaloid

Summary Seneciphylline, one of the hepatotoxic pyrolizidine alkaloids, induced, as do also monoclotaline, etc., a marked arterial and arteriolar hypertrophy of the lung of young Wistar rats a month after a single s. c. injection of 50–80 mg/kg. Cor pulmonale with leftward shift of the ventricular septum was also noted.     

A facile one-step synthesis of cysteinyldopas using mushroom tyrosinase.

A convenient one-step procedure, based upon the tyrosinase co-oxidation of dopa and cysteine, is reported for the synthesis of 5-S-cysteinyldopa (I) in 74% yield. Secondary products of the reaction turned out to be 2-S-cysteinyldopa (II, 14%), 2,5-S, S-dicysteinyldopa (iv, 5%), and the hitherto unknown 6-S-cysteinyldopa (III, approximately 1%).     

WNT7b mediates macrophage-induced programmed cell death in patterning of the vasculature

Macrophages have a critical role in inflammatory and immune responses through their ability to recognize and engulf apoptotic cells. Here we show that macrophages initiate a cell-death programme in target cells by activating the canonical WNT pathway. We show in mice that macrophage WNT7b is a short-range paracrine signal required for WNT-pathway responses and programmed cell death in the vascular endothelial cells of the temporary hyaloid vessels of the developing eye. These findings indicate that macrophages can use WNT ligands to influence cell-fate decisions--including cell death--in adjacent cells, and raise the possibility that they do so in many different cellular contexts.
