An inventory of the terrestrial vertebrate fauna and the seasonal occurrence of each species was determined for a man - made radioactive leaching pond complex in southeastern Idaho. Three reptile, 11 mammal, and 94 bird species were identified from February 1974 through January 1978. Fewest species were observed during the winter and most during the summer. Eight bird species nested at the pond complex, while 19 species of birds were common or seasonally abundant. It appears that the Test Reactor Area radioactive leaching pond complex is an important water source and provides habitat for some species of wildlife.  相似文献

The Least Bell’s Vireo ( Vireo bellii pusillus ) was listed as state endangered in 1980 and federally endangered in 1986 in response to a sharp population decline and range reduction. This vireo commonly bred in riparian forests throughout the Central Valley of California, but prior to 2005, no nesting pairs had been confirmed in the region in over 50 years. On 29 June 2005, a Least Bell’s Vireo nest was located in a 3-year-old riparian restoration site at the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge in Stanislaus County, California. In 2006, a Least Bell’s Vireo pair returned to the refuge to successfully breed, followed by an unsuccessful attempt in 2007 by an unpaired female. These records are approximately 350 km from the nearest known breeding population and appear to be part of a growing number of sightings outside of the species’ current southern California breeding range. These nesting attempts lend credence to the idea that extirpated species can recolonize restored habitat by long-distance dispersal.  相似文献

Benthic macroinvertebrates from four habitat types (river channel, ephemeral side channel, river backwater, and seasonally inundated wetland) were examined from the Green River at the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge, Uintah County, UT, June-August 1991. For major taxa (Nematoda, Oligochaeta, Diptera: Ceratopogonidea, and Chironomidae) were quantified. Chuster analysis of densities showed that habitat types with comparable flow conditions were the most similar. Highest to lowest overall benthic invertebrate densities of the four habitats were as follows: ephemeral side channel, river backwater, seasonally inundated wetland, and river channel. Nematodes were the most abundant taxon in all habitat types and sample dates except the August sample of the river channel and river backwater and the July sample of the seasonally inundated wetland.  相似文献

混凝土的蠕变断裂试验是一个相当困难的试验,以前还没有人成功地做过这样的试验。我们利用预裂的办法尽量减少混凝土的离散性进行了蠕变断裂试验,获得了蠕变断裂时间和荷载比关系,充分证实了篇变断裂的存在,以及发现在篇变断裂过程中伴随有微裂纹扩展。目前,我们用粘弹性理论蠕变断裂现象进行了初步分析,计算成果和试验非常好地呈现一致性。  相似文献

Zusammenfassung In kombinierter histochemischer und biochemischer Untersuchung werden Dopamin-, Noradrenalin-und 5-Hydroxytryptamin-Neurone nach Entfernung von Cortex cerebri und Cerebellum studiert. Es ergibt sich, dass die Noradrenalin-Nerventerminale, welche Cortex cerebri und Cerebellum innervieren, vermutlich von feinen Axonen her stammen, deren Zellkörper mindestens zum Teil in der Formatio reticularis der Medulla oblongata gelegen sind. Die Noradrenalin-und 5-Hydroxytryptamin-Axone, die nach dem Cortex cerebri ziehen, passieren vermutlich zur Hauptsache das Cingulum.  相似文献

Heterosexual chemoattraction studies on juvenile worms showed that 20- and 21-day-old worms do not attract each other, whereas 23- and 28-day-old worms are attracted to each other and pair with worms of the opposite sex. This onset of chemoattraction in vitro corresponds to the time when worms begin pairing in vivo. The ability of single worms to locate each other and mate is presumably mediated by chemoreceptors.  相似文献

Summary Results of unilateral achilles tenotomy on older (350–410 g) male rats, showed that the general width of Z-lines in the tenotomized muscles was not significantly altered by this procedure. Summary Improved growth of tumor cells in primary cell suspensions isolated from solid tumors can be achieved by addition of an antifungal agent, mycostatin, to the culture medium. Mycostatin inhibits the cytotoxicity of macrophages and also quickly detaches phagocytes without any apparent retardation of the growth of tumor cells. This method is particularly useful for obtaining cultures of lung tumor cells or cells from lung metastases of other tumors.This research was supported in part by grants CA-22839 and CA-28482 awarded by the National Cancer Institute, DHEW, USA.
