With hard turning, which is an attractive alternative to existing grinding processes, surface quality is of great importance. Signal processing techniques were used to relate workpiece surface topography to the dynamic behavior of the machine tool. Spatial domain frequency analyses based on fast Fourier trans- form were used to analyze the tool behavior. Wavelet reconstruction was used for profile filtering. The re- sults show that machine vibration remarkably affects the surface topography at small feed rates, but has negligible effect at high feed rates. The charaeteristics of kokanee ( Oncorhynchus nerka ) spawning stocks in the Green River and Sheep Creek (tributaries to Flaming Gorge Reservoir) are described as observed in fall 1985 and spring 1986; the time of spawning; length, age, and sex structure of the stocks; fecundity and egg retention; density of eggs in redds; and the timing of downstream drift of emerging fry. The life history of the endangered Kendall Warm Springs dace ( Rhinichthys osculus thermalis ) is largely unknown. Our study of its reproduction, sources of mortality, and diet indicated that Kendall Warm Springs dace seem to be reproductively active throughout the year, but the rate of reproduction appears to decrease during the winter. Males become sexually mature at 34 mm total length and females at 40 mm total length. We observed 2 sources of mortality: (1) emigration from the warm spring over a waterfall into the Green River and (2) predation on larvae by dragonfly ( Libellula saturata ) nymphs. Stomachs of Kendall Warm Springs dace contained small (≤ 1.5 mm total length) benthic invertebrates, primarily dipterans and mollusks. 相似文献

Seven fish species were found in the Bitter Creek drainage of southwest Wyoming, but only speckled dace ( Rhinichthys osculus ), flannelmouth sucker ( Catostomus latipinnis ), and mountain sucker ( Catostomus platyrhynchus ) were indigenous. No relationships were found between fish standing stocks and habitat features, but species richness was related to elevation and stream width. No fish were found above an elevation of 2192 m. Only the most downstream study read had more than three species present. Two indigenous species, speckled dace and mountain sucker, and a nonnative species, fathead minnow ( Pimephales promelas ), were predominant fishes in the drainage. Graphene--a recently discovered form of graphite only one atomic layer thick--constitutes a new model system in condensed matter physics, because it is the first material in which charge carriers behave as massless chiral relativistic particles. The anomalous quantization of the Hall conductance, which is now understood theoretically, is one of the experimental signatures of the peculiar transport properties of relativistic electrons in graphene. Other unusual phenomena, like the finite conductivity of order 4e(2)/h (where e is the electron charge and h is Planck's constant) at the charge neutrality (or Dirac) point, have come as a surprise and remain to be explained. Here we experimentally study the Josephson effect in mesoscopic junctions consisting of a graphene layer contacted by two closely spaced superconducting electrodes. The charge density in the graphene layer can be controlled by means of a gate electrode. We observe a supercurrent that, depending on the gate voltage, is carried by either electrons in the conduction band or by holes in the valence band. More importantly, we find that not only the normal state conductance of graphene is finite, but also a finite supercurrent can flow at zero charge density. Our observations shed light on the special role of time reversal symmetry in graphene, and demonstrate phase coherent electronic transport at the Dirac point. 相似文献
