Blue TiO2 polymorph: An efficient material for dye-sensitized solar cells fabricated using a low-temperature sintering process

Recently,surface-disordered or non-stoichiometric TiO_2,such as blue TiO_2(B-TiO_2),has received much attention owing to its unique properties,such as structural disorder near the surface and the existence of Ti~(3+)ions and oxygen vacancies.Therefore,surface-disordered TiO_2has been applied for microwave absorption,photocatalysis,in photoelectrochemical sensors and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.In this work B-TiO_2,a polymorph consisting of nanoparticles,nanotubes and nanosheets,was successfully synthesized and employed as a semiconductor layer in dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs)fabricated using a low-temperature heat treatment process(120°C).Based on the analyses of the experimental results regarding the structure and those from the characterization of B-TiO_2,and its application to DSSCs,it has been found that the B-TiO_2 material has an effect on electron-hole pair separation.The conversion efficiency of the B-TiO_2 DSSC(BTiO_2-DSSC)was 6.18%,whereas that of the TiO_2-P25 DSSC(P25-DSSC)was 3.61%,and that of the TiO_2 polymorph DSSC(PTiO_2-DSSC)which is the precursor of B-TiO_2 was 4.51%.     

An overview of marine & utility system for offshore platform

Main marine & utility (M & U) systems are essential to the routine operation of offshore units,and are extremely important as they are the system that will ensure the basic safety of offshore platforms. This paper gave a general explanation and guideline of the marine & utility systems in offshore projects including their interface with topside,M & U engineering,equipment sizing operation and control.

以TV家庭购物和冲动购买为研究基础,分析冲动购物的激励因素,通过检验设定的问题来确定其影响力.分析有一次以上TV家庭购物的303名消费者的调查资料,得出:(1)分析产品激励因素对专卖商品和流行商品的影响,结果表明,激励冲动购物只对流行商品有影响.(2)在促销激励因素中,提供赠品的激励和扩大信用卡打折期限的激励对冲动购物都有一定影响,后者影响更大.(3)价格激励因素中,大幅度降低商品价值的激励比合理的价值激励对冲动购物影响更大.(4)情境激励因素特性表明,引导销售激励比限量销售激励影响更大.(5)消费者TV家庭购物视听关联特性表明,看TV时间长比与有伴看电视对消费者冲动购物影响更大.     

Synchrotron refractive-index microradiography of human liver cancer tissue

Three human liver tissue samples （-5 mm × 40 mm × 20 mm） were excised from a cancer patient＇s liver during surgery. The microradiology analysis was performed with a non-standard approach on a synchrotron. High-resolution refractive-index edge-enhanced microradiographs that cover a larger volume of the liver tissue sample were obtained. The cancer tissue and normal tissue could be clearly identified and distinguished based on their different textures. Furthermore, new blood vessel hyperplasia was found near the cancer area. Blood vessels with a diameter smaller than 20 μm could be identified. These findings were fully consistent with the histopathological examination or the same area. Microradiographs of the newly formed blood vessels at different angles were also obtained. This result shows that it is possible to further develop this approach into a technique of microradiographic imaging for clinic diagnosis of liver cancer at the early stage.     

分光光度法测定氯丙嗪的研究——Ⅰ 硫酸铈作显色剂

本文报导于0.08mol/L硫酸介质中,在70℃恒温水浴中保温5分钟的条件下,利用氯丙嗪与硫酸鈰生成桃红色的氧化产物,在514nm处,用分光光度法测定药品制剂中氯丙嗪的含量。氯丙嗪的浓度在0～1.2mg/25ml之间遵守比尔定律。桃红色氧化产物的色泽稳定1小时以上。方法灵敏、准确,试剂易得。     

Identification of in vitro release products of corpora allata in female and male loreyi leafworms,Leucania loreyi

The in vitro release of juvenile hormones (JH) by female, and of JH acids (JHA) by male corpora allata (CA) ofLeucania loreyi was identified by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Separation and quantification were accomplished by HPLC and GC, respectively. JH II and JH III were the major components released by CA of females. Four JHA analogues were identified as the release products of male CA, i.e. JHA III, Iso-JHA II, JHA II and JHA I. JHA III and Iso-JHA II were reported for the first time as the major release products of CA of adult male Lepidoptera. Iso-JHA II is a new member of the insect juvenile hormone analogue family.

Phosphorylation of WAVE1 regulates actin polymerization and dendritic spine morphology

WAVE1--the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (WASP)--family verprolin homologous protein 1--is a key regulator of actin-dependent morphological processes in mammals, through its ability to activate the actin-related protein (Arp2/3) complex. Here we show that WAVE1 is phosphorylated at multiple sites by cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) both in vitro and in intact mouse neurons. Phosphorylation of WAVE1 by Cdk5 inhibits its ability to regulate Arp2/3 complex-dependent actin polymerization. Loss of WAVE1 function in vivo or in cultured neurons results in a decrease in mature dendritic spines. Expression of a dephosphorylation-mimic mutant of WAVE1 reverses this loss of WAVE1 function in spine morphology, but expression of a phosphorylation-mimic mutant does not. Cyclic AMP (cAMP) signalling reduces phosphorylation of the Cdk5 sites in WAVE1, and increases spine density in a WAVE1-dependent manner. Our data suggest that phosphorylation/dephosphorylation of WAVE1 in neurons has an important role in the formation of the filamentous actin cytoskeleton, and thus in the regulation of dendritic spine morphology.     

Pluripotency of spermatogonial stem cells from adult mouse testis

Embryonic germ cells as well as germline stem cells from neonatal mouse testis are pluripotent and have differentiation potential similar to embryonic stem cells, suggesting that the germline lineage may retain the ability to generate pluripotent cells. However, until now there has been no evidence for the pluripotency and plasticity of adult spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs), which are responsible for maintaining spermatogenesis throughout life in the male. Here we show the isolation of SSCs from adult mouse testis using genetic selection, with a success rate of 27%. These isolated SSCs respond to culture conditions and acquire embryonic stem cell properties. We name these cells multipotent adult germline stem cells (maGSCs). They are able to spontaneously differentiate into derivatives of the three embryonic germ layers in vitro and generate teratomas in immunodeficient mice. When injected into an early blastocyst, SSCs contribute to the development of various organs and show germline transmission. Thus, the capacity to form multipotent cells persists in adult mouse testis. Establishment of human maGSCs from testicular biopsies may allow individual cell-based therapy without the ethical and immunological problems associated with human embryonic stem cells. Furthermore, these cells may provide new opportunities to study genetic diseases in various cell lineages.
