Histamine formation by ruminal fluid from cattle in vitro

Summary Net histamine formation in ruminal fluid is shown to be the result of histidine decarboxylation and histamine deamination. Addition of 4.7 mM histidine increased the rate of net histamine synthesis by a factor of 20 compared to normal. Histamine production sharply decreases at pH values below the physiological range.     

Renal effects of the inhibitor of thromboxane A2-synthetase OKY-046

Acute renal failure (ARF) was associated with increased urinary thromboxane (TXA2) excretion and lessened excretion of sodium (UNaV) and fractional excretion of sodium (FENa%). The inhibitor of thromboxane A2-synthetase OKY-046 enhanced sodium excretion and fractional excretion of sodium in normal and saline loaded animals whereas it partially prevented the reduction in sodium excretion and creatinine clearance and significantly increased fractional excretion of sodium in glycerol treated rats suggesting a partial protection against the development of acute renal failure.

Fluctuations in excitability of single myelinated nerve fibres

Résumé Il est possible de montrer des fluctuations aléatoires de l'excitabilité électrique de fibres nerveuses myélinisées isolées excitées au moyen de chocs proches du seuil. L'amplitude de cette fluctuation a été comparée pour des excitants rectangulaires de deux durées (0,1 et 10 msec); elle est plus grande quand on utilise des chocs brefs. Ces résultats suggèrent que les composantes de relativement haute fréquence du spectre de la fluctuation sont importantes.
