Regulation of enzymes of ethanol metabolism in yeast (Rhodotorula gracilis)

Summary The three enzymes of ethanol metabolism alcohol dehydrogenase, aldehyde dehydrogenase and acetyl-CoA synthetase in the obligate aerobic yeastRhodotorula gracilis are repressed by glucose and induced by C₂ metabolic fuels with a regulatory pattern indicating a correlation in the control mechanisms. To try an identification of the molecular signals involved in the transmission of the inducing stimulus, experiments were carried out by blocking with 2 mM pyrazole the ethanol acetaldehyde metabolic step. Results indicate that ethanol is not specifically required as a molecular signal for induction.This work was supported by a grant from the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.     

Poly(A) associated RNA from mitochondria and microsomes of rat brain

Summary Rat brain mitochondria contain a significant proportion of poly(A) associated RNA which is higher than that found in microsomes from the same source. When steady state poly(A) RNA of brain mitochondria was analyzed by microelectrophoresis, it displayed a characteristic separation pattern with a large amount of free poly(A).     

Influence of cyclic nucleotides on protein synthesis in vascular smooth muscle

Summary The incorporation of leucice-¹⁴C into protein in bovine mesenteric arteries was augmented by cyclic GMP (10^–3 M) and decreased by cyclic AMP (10^–3 M). There was no effect of 5 AMP (10^–3 M). The phosphodiesterase inhibiting drugs theophylline (10^–3 M) and papaverine (5×10^–5 g/ml) both decreased the leucine-¹⁴C incorporation.We are indebted to Mrs.Lena Burlin for hear assistance. Effect of air ionization on blood serotonin in vitro

Summary The effect of negative and positive air ionisation on siliconized blood serotonin was studied in vitro. The experiments showed that within 10 min positive ionisation increased serotonin levels in total blood (+40%), plasma (+90%), erythrocytes (+50%) and thrombocytes (+200%). On the other hand, negative ionization (10 min) lowered the serotonin content of total blood (–30%), plasma (–42.5%), erythrocytes (–41.7%) and thrombocytes (–72.3%), thus confirming the Krueger Effect in vitro.This research was generously supported by a grant from the Joint Research Fund of the Hebrew University and Hadassah, and Dr. and Mrs.Leonard Appleby of Palmbeach, Florida.Acknowledgment: Our thanks are due to Mr.B. 东营凹陷八面河地区坡折带特征及其对地层岩性圈闭的控制作用

通过对东营凹陷八面河地区广利东洼陷边缘坡折带的识别标志、成因机制以及演化规律的研究,总结了该区坡折带对于地层岩性圈闭的控制作用,以便为地层岩性油气藏的勘探提供依据.研究表明,该区广利东洼陷边缘发育挠曲坡折带和断裂坡折带,构造活动是形成坡折带的主要因素.坡折带的演化规律与构造活动的阶段性演化或幕式构造作用相对应,也表现出多期性、幕式活动和差异性活动的特点,而且坡折带规模与构造活动大小有关.坡折带对地层岩性圈闭的控制主要表现为:坡折带附近是地层岩性圈闭发育的有利区带;规模较大的坡折带控制了多数地层岩性圈闭,地层岩性圈闭在纵向上发育具有继承性特点;坡折带在横向上可以存在较大的变化,可形成不同的圈闭类型;坡折带控制下的地层岩性圈闭含油气性十分有利.     

一种基于DSP的JPEG2000视频压缩系统的实现

JPEG2000是国际标准化组织ISO和国际电信联盟ITU T共同制定的新一代图像压缩标准.它是基于EB COT算法,使用DWT,采用两层编码策略, 能够获得较好的压缩率.介绍了JPEG2000的基本特点,概述了其图像编码系统.详细描述基于DSP的JPEG2000硬件压缩系统各个硬件的选择以及具体的实现过程.     

壳聚糖接枝甲基丙烯酸羟乙酯的合成与表征

用硝酸铈铵(CAN)为引发剂,氮气保护下,研究了w=2%醋酸溶液中壳聚糖与甲基丙烯酸羟乙酯(HEMA)的接枝共聚行为.重点探讨了反应温度、反应时间、引发剂浓度和单体浓度对接枝聚合反应的影响,优化得到如下最佳反应条件,硝酸铈铵溶液浓度为0.0180mol.L-1,甲基丙烯酸羟乙酯溶液浓度为0.1690mol.L-1,壳聚糖溶液浓度为0.0617mol.L-1,反应温度为60℃,反应时间为5h,可得到最大接枝率为70.4%.并通过差热分析和红外光谱分析对接枝共聚物进行了表征,从而提供了一种生物相容性的亲水改性壳聚糖的方法.     

ZAO透明导电纳米薄膜中Al元素分布对其性能的影响

主要对直流反应磁控溅射法制备ZAO纳米薄膜中Al元素的相对含量进行了分析,对其作了EDS,XRD测试,并研究了Al质量分数与ZAO薄膜的光、电性能的关系·得出ZAO薄膜中成分是均匀的,具有ZnO晶体结构;Al元素的掺杂没有形成新的化合物(Al2O3),Al对Zn的掺杂替换是提高ZAO薄膜导电性能的关键因素,对薄膜在可见光区的透射性影响不大·制备的薄膜最低电阻率为4 5×10-4Ω·cm,可见光透射率达到80%以上·
