Many lines of evidence suggest that memory in the mammalian brain is stored with distinct spatiotemporal patterns. Despite recent progresses in identifying neuronal populations involved in memory coding, the synapse-level mechanism is still poorly understood. Computational models and electrophysiological data have shown that functional clustering of synapses along dendritic branches leads to nonlinear summation of synaptic inputs and greatly expands the computing power of a neural network. However, whether neighbouring synapses are involved in encoding similar memory and how task-specific cortical networks develop during learning remain elusive. Using transcranial two-photon microscopy, we followed apical dendrites of layer 5 pyramidal neurons in the motor cortex while mice practised novel forelimb skills. Here we show that a third of new dendritic spines (postsynaptic structures of most excitatory synapses) formed during the acquisition phase of learning emerge in clusters, and that most such clusters are neighbouring spine pairs. These clustered new spines are more likely to persist throughout prolonged learning sessions, and even long after training stops, than non-clustered counterparts. Moreover, formation of new spine clusters requires repetition of the same motor task, and the emergence of succedent new spine(s) accompanies the strengthening of the first new spine in the cluster. We also show that under control conditions new spines appear to avoid existing stable spines, rather than being uniformly added along dendrites. However, succedent new spines in clusters overcome such a spatial constraint and form in close vicinity to neighbouring stable spines. Our findings suggest that clustering of new synapses along dendrites is induced by repetitive activation of the cortical circuitry during learning, providing a structural basis for spatial coding of motor memory in the mammalian brain. 相似文献

The reactions of imidazolium-based ionic liquids having different substituent groups on the ring with hydrated electrons (eaq-),hydroxyl radicals (·OH),and sulfate anion radicals (SO4·-) were investigated using nanosecond pulse radiolysis techniques.The spectra of these ionic liquids on reaction with eaq-all exhibited a similar peak at about 320 nm,and a typical peak for eaq-in aqueous ionic liquid solutions.The reaction rate constants for 1,3-disubstituted imidazolium-based ionic liquid hexafluorophosphates (BMIPF 6) with eaq-were deduced to be 10 10 L mol-1s-1,however the values were lower for trisubstituted ionic liquids.For example,the rate constant for 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMMIBF 4) was 5.5×10 9 L mol-1s-1.Imidazolium-based ionic liquids reacted with hydroxyl radicals via adducts to produce a mixture of isomeric OH adducts,and the pk a value of the OH adducts was deduced to be 8.4±0.4 for 1-butyl-3-methylimdazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMIBF 4).Moreover,imidazolium cations were also oxidized by SO4·-to produce bivalent cation radicals,which exhibit a peak at 320 nm,and these rate constants are of the same order of magnitude,i.e.,10 9 L mol-1s-1,except that for 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3-methylimdazolium tetrafluoroborate with SO4·-(k=2.8×10 8 L mol-1 s-1).Theoretical calculations were carried out to estimate the structures of the products of reduction by eaq- and the results were related to the experimental data. 相似文献

Alternating multilayer films of hydrogen diluted hydrogenated protocrystalline silicon (pc-Si:H) were prepared using a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique.The microstructure of the deposited films and photoresponse characteristics of their Schottky diode structures were investigated by Raman scattering spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and photocurrent spectra.Microstructure and optical absorption analyses suggest that the prepared films were pc-Si:H multilayer films with a two-phase structure of silicon nanocrystals (NCs) and its amorphous counterpart and the band gap of the films showed a decreasing trend with increasing crystalline fraction.Photocurrent measurement revealed that silicon NCs facilitate the spatial separation of photo-generated carriers,effectively reduce the non-radiative recombination rate,and induce a photoresponse peak value shift towards the short-wavelength side with increasing crystallinity.However,the carrier traps near the surface defects of silicon NCs and their spatial carrier confinement result in a significant reduction of the diode photoresponse in the longwavelength region.An enhancement of the photoresponse from 350 to 1000 nm was observed when applying an increased bias voltage in the diode,showing a favorable carrier transport and an effective collection of photo-generated carriers was achieved.Both the spatial separation of the restricted electron-hole pairs in silicon NCs and the de-trapping of the carriers at their interface defects are responsible for the red-shift in photoresponse spectra and enhancement of external quantum efficiency.The results provide fundamental data for the carrier transport control of high-efficiency pc-Si:H solar cells. 相似文献

2010年1月、3月、6月及9月,共设14个调查站位对钦州湾茅尾海海域的环境因子及浮游植物的种类组成、优势种类、数量分布和群落多样性进行调查分析。结果茅尾海海区营养盐中POi—P值为0.01~0.07mg/dm^3,DIN值为0.16~O.78mg/dm^3,POi—P值和DIN值均有超4类海水水质标准现象。浮游植物共鉴定出82属,262种,优势种类16种,年平均丰度为6.29×10^4cells/L,生物多样性指数的年平均值为3.87。2010年茅尾海浮游植物种类和数量都比较丰富,种类的季节变化呈现由冬至秋减少的趋势,数量的季节变化比较明显,春季最低,平均密度仅为3.28×10^4cells/L,夏季最高,平均密度为9.25×10^4cells/L。 相似文献
