Polynucleotidases in animal tissues

Résumé Les organelles des Mammifères contiennent un grand nombre d'enzymes qui hydrolysent les acides nucléiques. Les enzymes qui agissent sur les acides désoxyribonucléiques étant accompagnées par quelques prohibiteurs et activateurs, on ne peut pas les évaluer avec certitude. Pour cette raison, la discussion ne porte que sur les enzymes ayant une certaine activité sur les acides ribonucléiques (alkaline RNase II, acide RNase II, RNase I, phosphodiestérase I, phosphodiestérase II). Les caractères servant à distinguer ces enzymes sont décrits ici. Elles renferment des substrats spéciaux et ont une inactivation sélective. Bien que les extraits des organelles renferment toutes les enzymes, les extraits des cellules cultivées in vitro n'en contiennent qu'une partie. Par hasard, une ou quelques activités peuvent faire défaut et la phosphodiestérase I est toujours déficiente. Cette exception s'observe dans le cas où les cellules ont des propriétés différenciées — comme les cellules musculaires du cur — c'est à dire qu'elles continuent à produire de la phosphodiestérase I. Toutes ces cellules cultivées donnent continuellement la RNase I.     

Stimulation of pyruvate carboxylation by gastric secretagogues

Summary Pyruvate carboxylation was stimulated by 2 gastric secretagogues, histamine and dibutyryl cyclic AMP, and by butyrate. Thiocyanate, an inhibitor of acid secretion, produced a slight decrease. Avidin significantly reduced acid secretion and this effect was overcome by biotin and oxalacetate. The results suggest that carboxylation of pyruvate is one of the reactions controlling oxidative metabolism and acid secretion in toad gastric mucosa.This investigation was supported by Consejo de Desarrollo Científico y Humanístico de la Universidad del Zulia, and by CONICIT Grant S1-0455.     

Organotin complexes of pyridine-2-carbothioamide

Summary Complexes of pyridine-2-carbothioamide with diethyltin dichloride, dibenzyltin dichloride and phenyltin trichloride are described. In each case, the chelating agent is bound to the tin(IV) atom by the pyridine nitrogen and the carbothioamide sulphur, giving support to proposals that certain organotin compounds cause enzyme deactivation via the formation of tin-sulphur bonds.Acknowledgment. RNA polymerase activities in the isolated perfused rat liver

Summary The routine procedure for the isolation of rat liver induces a significant fall in RNA polymerase I and II activities which are rapidly restored to the control levels during perfusion.     

Vesicles carrying nuclear material in matureCyprinus carpio erythrocytes

Zusammenfassung Chromatinhaltige feulgenpositive Bläschen wurden im Cytoplasma der Erythrocyten vonCyprinus carpio gefunden. Sie haben ihren Ursprung in den unmittelbar an der Kernmembran anliegenden Mitochondrien, die während der Chromatinaufnahme allmählich ihre Struktur verlieren.

Non-synaptic chemical neurotransmission

Summary Images with apparently gemmulofugal polarity in the EPL of the olfactory bulb are the result of sectioning, along misleading planes, gemmulopetal synapses containing postsynaptic vesicles. Unless one accepts a bidirectional conduction for chemical synapses, the internal granule cells lack actual gemmulofugal synapses and the neurotransmitter contained in their vesicles must act at non-synaptic membranes.Supported by grant MA4183 of the Medical Research Council of Canada.
