Polycystins and cellular Ca2+ signaling

The cystic phenotype in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease is characterized by a profound dysfunction of many cellular signaling patterns, ultimately leading to an increase in both cell proliferation and apoptotic cell death. Disturbance of normal cellular Ca²⁺ signaling seems to be a primary event and is clearly involved in many pathways that may lead to both types of cellular responses. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge about the molecular and functional interactions between polycystins and multiple components of the cellular Ca²⁺-signaling machinery. In addition, we discuss the relevant downstream responses of the changed Ca²⁺ signaling that ultimately lead to increased proliferation and increased apoptosis as observed in many cystic cell types.     

Why Do Students Leave Education Early? Theory and Evidence on High School Dropout Rates

This paper contributes to the growing literature on school dropout by proposing and empirically testing a theoretical framework on the enrollment decision of youngsters in secondary education. The model relates school dropout to time preferences, motivation, opportunity costs and policy measures. It is empirically tested on longitudinal data of about 4000 Dutch vocational students. We evaluate the enrollment decision of students for (i) different intensity levels of dropout prevention policy, and for (ii) different levels of economic development. The results indicate that the model can accurately predict actual enrollment rates over the period 2000–2013. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

甲基丙烯酸镁对丁苯橡胶的补强作用

研究了在过氧化物硫化丁苯橡胶（SBR）中，过氧化二异丙苯（DCP）用量和甲基丙烯酸镁（MgMAA)2)用量对SBR力学性能，动态力学性能和交联结构的影响，结果表明，DCP用量在0．2－1．0份时对硫化胶的抗张强度影响不大，但是大于未硫化橡胶的强度；DCP用量增加后硫化胶的拉伸模量和硬度都有较大的提高，扯断永久变形逐渐减小，储能模量（′）逐渐增大，损耗角正切（tanδ）则逐渐减小，DCP用量一定时，随着Mg(MAA)2用量的增加，硫化胶的强度，模量，硬度，扯断伸长率，扯断永久变形和E′都有较大幅度的提高，tanδ值在Mg(MAA)2用量少于40份时呈逐渐下降趋势，在Mg(MAA)2用量的40份时，可以获得同时具有高强度，高模量，高伸长，高硬度等优良性能的SBR硫化胶。     

一种新实验系统的研制与应用

讨论了一种新研制应用于教学中的实验系统，学生使用它能完成所有的电子实验，而且也可能自已设计新实验，不再受地点，时间及课程的限制，使得教学实验丰富灵活。     

Whole-lake carbon-13 additions reveal terrestrial support of aquatic food webs

Ecosystems are supported by organic carbon from two distinct sources. Endogenous carbon is produced by photosynthesis within an ecosystem by autotrophic organisms. Exogenous carbon is produced elsewhere and transported into ecosystems. Consumers may use exogenous carbon with consequent influences on population dynamics, predator-prey relationships and ecosystem processes. For example, exogenous inputs provide resources that may enhance consumer abundance beyond levels supported by within-system primary production. Exogenous fluxes of organic carbon to ecosystems are often large, but this material is recalcitrant and difficult to assimilate, in contrast to endogenously produced organic matter, which is used more easily. Here we show, by the experimental manipulation of dissolved inorganic (13)C in two lakes, that internal primary production is insufficient to support the food webs of these ecosystems. Additions of NaH(13)CO(3) enriched the (13)C content of dissolved inorganic carbon, particulate organic carbon, zooplankton and fish. Dynamics of (13)C indicate that 40-55% of particulate organic carbon and 22-50% of zooplankton carbon are derived from terrestrial sources, showing that there is significant subsidy of these ecosystems by organic carbon produced outside their boundaries.

本文通过对草地藏系绵羊贾洛类群mtDNAD-loop区序列的分析,与有相似生活环境的草地藏系绵羊其他类群进行比较,明确其遗传多样性,为开展下一步的相关研究奠定基础．同时,为草地藏系绵羊贾洛类群育种方法的制定提供科学依据．
