The spatial distributions of superficial D.C. potentials on the skin of Rana esculenta have been compared to those of the intensity of short-circuit current (S.C.C.) expressing the transcutaneous active transport of sodium ions. It has been observed that the sites of maximum D.C. potentials coincide with the localisations of maximum S.C.C. values. Moreover, superficial D.C. potentials and S.C.C. are similarly modified by the depression of metabolic activity due to lowered temperature or poisoning by dinitrophenol (DNP). It is thus proposed that the spatial distribution of the transcutaneous active transport system for sodium ions is the origin of the electric generator of superficial D.C. potentials.  相似文献

Summary Incubation of human, canine or rabbit MM creatine kinase with carboxypeptidase-N or B resulted in the production of 2 additional enzyme forms with increased anodal migration on polyacrylamide gels. Summary A radical anion of 2,3,5,6-tetrahydroxy-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1,4-dione was detected using the EPR technique by complexing with Zn ions. Hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical anion and hydroxyl radical were also detected in the reaction mixture. Kinetic study and product distribution indicated a probable mixed type one- and two-electron transfer mechanism. A possible relationship between the autooxidation process and the biological activity of substituted quinones was suggested.  相似文献

Summary In normal lymphocytes somatostatin non-competitively inhibited basal (ID50 5×10–4 M) and isoproterenol- and forskolin-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity (Ac). In acute leukemia blasts, non-responsive to isoproterenol, forskolin, which activates the catalytic subunit, stimulated and somatostatin inhibited Ac, thus indicating the leukemic enzyme, though defective, retains the inhibitory pathway and catalyst function.  相似文献

Summary The action potential in amphibian sciatic nerve in vitro has been reported to be abolished by the topical application ofLathyrus sativus seed extract. We have confirmed this effect, but find that it is probably caused by the high K+ content of such seed extracts and that organic neurotoxins are not implicated.Acknowledgments. A partially purified thymic extract has determined the development of leucosis in 10 thymectomized irradiated CC57Bl mice out of 25. The pure hormone isolated from the same extract prevented the development of leucosis in intact irradiated Mice. This seems to indicate the presence of a second active substance in the extract (enhancing the development of the leucosis).  相似文献
