Cloning a Full—length cDNA Encoding UDP—glucose Pyrophosphorylase from Amorpha fruticosa by PCR—based Methods

A method based on degenerate Oligo-primed polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and randomamplification of cDNA end (RACE) PCR for cloning a full-length cDNA is described.An Amorpha fruticosa cDNA clone encoding UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase(UGP),a key enzyme producinng UDP-glucose in the synthesis of sucrose and cellulose,is cloned by using this method.We design 5‘ RACE rpimers based on UGPA1 fragment ,which obtains from degenerate PCR.Inverse PCR and nested PCR enable cloning of the remainder 5‘ and 3‘ end fragments of the gene.The deduced amino acid sequence xhibits significant homology with the other UGP genes cloned.This method is more simple and inexpensive than screening cDNA library,and can be easily adapted to clone other genes.

Nanocarriers for siRNA delivery to overcome cancer multidrug resistance

Multidrug resistance(MDR)is an extremely complexed phenomenon in tumor chemotherapy and is one of the major obstacles for successful treatment.Discovery of RNA interference(RNAi)offers a new strategy with great potential to reverse MDR.Specific genes,which contribute to the emerging of MDR,can be silenced by RNAi.However,many natural barriers have to be overcome for efficient and safe delivery of siRNA.In recent years,the various kinds of nanocarriers,such as liposomes,cationic polymers,and inorganic materials,have been developed to deliver siRNA and show good results in reversing MDR.This review mainly summarizes the barriers in siRNA delivery and recent progress in designing nanotechnology-based siRNA delivery systems to overcome tumor MDR.     

Polyharmonic boundary value problem in a sector

In this article, a polyharmonic Neumann function in a sector with angle π n (n N) is studied by convolution. Especially, the outward normal derivatives at three corner points are defined properly. We give the recursive expressions for the polyharmonic Neumann function, obtaining the solution and the condition of solvability for the related polyharmonic Neumann problem.     

A NOTE ON THE STABILITY OF A CLASS OF DEGENERATE PLANAR CRITICAL POINTS

A computable expression of the asymptotic expansion of the return map for a degenerate singular point of a class of planar differential system is given, and hence the stability and the type of the singular point can be decided. These results generalize the corresponding results in [Nonlinearity, 13 （2000）, p.709].     

Memory devices based on organic electric bistable materials

Organic/metallic composites have demonstrated electrical bistability,as well as memory effects. These advanced materials have shown potential applications in digital information storage because of their good stability,flexibility and fast response speed. The electric bistability phenomenon can be explained by electric field-induced electron transfer/storage. This article reviews the recent progress of memory devices based on organic/metallic and polymeric composites with electric bistability.     

Preparation and film-growing mechanism of hydrous zirconia coated on TiO2

To overcome the photochemical activity of rutile used as a pigment and improve its durability in application, hydrous zirconia-coated TiO₂ was prepared by the precipitation method. High-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize the morphology and surface structure of hydrous zirconia-coated TiO₂. The ζ-potential and ultraviolet (UV) absorption of both coated and uncoated rutile were examined. The results show that hydrous zirconia can not only improve the durability but also raise the lightness. A suitable ZrO₂ content of hydrous zirconia-coated TiO₂ is about 1.0wt%, and a dense film on the surface of rutile can be formed with better pigmentary properties. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, the zirconia-coating process and the film growth mechanism were discussed.
