The Xigeda formation is a set of interbreds comprised of half consolidated silt,fine sand and clay with clear lamination and total thickness of 300 m.It is dated to be the early Pleistocene and widespread distributed on the Quaternary planes of denudation and leveling.This formation has particular tectonic deformation as expressed by deformed belts confined to certain locations,which extend linearly over long distances.It also manifests itself as graben and horst sequences where fault planes are very straight.Various deformation styles,such as horizontal,vertical and oblique dislocations,normal,reverse and thrust faulting resulted in tilts of small blocks in different directions.The clay beds are intruded by underlying sand layers.Parallel ridges and depressions characterize the landscape.These phenomena of deformation are probably the result of intensive vibration of soil bodies during major earthquakes which caused instantaneous shear,compression and extension.The analysis of generation factors for such tectonic deformation provides a new approach for determination of areas with seismic risks,assessment of earthquake intensity and research of earthquake mechanisms. 相似文献

Cathodoluminescence spectroscopic analysis of zircons in the uppermost sanukites of the early Cretaceous Yixian Formation in Western Liaoning reveals zoning structures of the zircons in the volcanic rocks. LA-ICP-MS chronometry shows that the central part of the zircons is remnant zircon with a U-Pb dating of 254 Ma, which is consistent with the age of the Early Mesozoic underplating granulites, and that the periphery is zircon crystallizing out of the host magma with a U-Pb dating of 116 Ma, which is highly consistent with the Ar-Ar dating of the host volcanic rocks. Compositions of the clinopyroxenes xenocrystals in the sanukites are similar to those of the clinopyroxenes in the underplating granulites, indicating that the granulites accreted to the lower crust in the Early Mesozoic have been reformed and disrupted by the upwelling diapers of the asthenosphere and taken part in formation of the sanukites in the Late Mesozoic. 相似文献

The Jurassic is a period of intensive accretion along the eastern and southeastern margins of the Asian continent. The emphasis of the present study is the review of the Jurassic prism structure of the Russian Far Eastern Pacific Asian margin and comparison with its equivalent in the Japanese archipelago. The Jurassic accretion processes and geodynamic evolution of the Paleo-Asian continent eastern margins are outlined in the paper. During this period, the different ages and different facies fragments of the Paleo-Pacific, such as abyssal plain, intraoceanic volcanic seamountains and oceanic plateaux, were accreted onto the eastern margin of the Paleo-Asian continent as a result of step-wise subduction of oceanic lithosphere. Together with ocean-margin terrigenous deposits (trench-fill turbidites), these paleooceanic fragments formed a thick tectono-sedimentary complex of the Jurassic accretionary prism, causing the size of the continent to be expanded by an increase along its eastern margin. 相似文献

We have collected a suite ofPaleoloxodon naumanni-Coelodonta antiquitatis fossils from a river terrace profile between Xi’an and Xianyang cities in Guanzhong Area, Shaanxi Province. A detailed examination

and their evolutionary processes, within the last glacial maximum (LGM): about 20 ka ago, the climate was basically cool and
wet, and was favourable for the existence ofPaleoloxodon naumanni-Coelodonta antiquitatis fauna. This was followed by a cold, dry phase which was no longer suitable for this type of faunal suite, causing the death
of a large number of mammalian assemblages. The available evidence indicates the existence of cold-dry and cool-wet climate
and environment fluctuations during the LGM. The cool-wet stage within the LGM reflects a Heinrich event occurring in the
