Current models of the evolution of the known extrasolar planetary systems need to incorporate orbital migration and/or gravitational interactions among giant planets to explain the presence of large bodies close to their parent stars. These processes could also lead to planets being ingested by their parent stars, which would alter the relative abundances of elements heavier than helium in the stellar atmospheres. In particular, the abundance of the rare 6Li isotope, which is normally destroyed in the early evolution of solar-type stars but preserved intact in the atmospheres of giant planets, would be boosted substantially. 6Li has not hitherto been observed reliably in a metal-rich star, where metallicity refers to the total abundance of elements heavier than helium. Here we report the discovery of 6Li in the atmosphere of the metal-rich solar-type star HD82943, which is known to have an orbiting giant planet. The presence of 6Li can probably be interpreted as evidence for a planet (or planets) having been engulfed by the parent star. 相似文献

Summary In isolated islets, gentamycin reduced both the45Ca net uptake and insulin release induced by glucose, but failed to inhibit the insulin secretion provoked by the combination of Ba2+ and theophylline. At the end of their product life cycle, tires require special handling and treatment in order to avoid damaging the environment and society. Reverse Logistics (RL) is necessary to manage this type of solid waste. In Brazilian cities, collection is one of the bottlenecks. One of the main difficulties in this process is enabling joint-action between the main stakeholders: Final consumers, the government and private companies. The main objective of this paper is to identify e implement opportunities for improvement in the collection phase of end-of-life tires through action-research, involving simultaneous participation between public and private organizations. The motive for this is that the knowledge generated can serve as a basis of information and references which aid in decision-making for public authorities who need to start similar programs or improve existing ones. The Action-Research occurred in a Brazilian city with less than 100,000 inhabitants, which fits the profile of 94.91% of the country’s municipalities. Final results proved the efficiency of the action-research proposal; after implementing the changes, the monthly collections grew by 50% (action), and the Action-Research team was able to generate and document knowledge which can now help other cities to improve their own processes. 相似文献

Interband cascade (IC) photovoltaic (PV)device structures, consisting of multiple discrete InAs/GaSb superlattice absorbers sandwiched between electronand hole barriers, were grown by molecular beam epitaxy.Details of the molecular beam epitaxy growth and materialcharacterization of the structures are presented. The dis-crete absorber architecture enables certain advantages, suchas high open-circuit voltage, high collection efficiency,high operating temperature, and smooth integration ofcascade stages with different bandgaps. The two- andthree-stage ICPV devices presented in this article operate atroom temperature with substantial open-circuit voltages ata cutoff wavelength of 5.3 μm (corresponding to a bandgapof 0.23 eV), the longest ever reported for room temperaturePV devices. The device characteristics indicate a high levelof current matching and demonstrate the advantages of theinterband cascade approach in thermophotovoltaic celldesign. 相似文献
