The effect of spironolactone (SP) on p-nitrophenol (PNP) glucuronidation was studied in isolated rat hepatocytes with appropriate viability conditions. A significant increase of protein concentration and PNP glucuronidation was found in the hepatocytes from SP-treated rats. Increased enzyme activity apparently was related to the SP dose. The results favor the conclusion that SP may induce PNP glucuronidation in the hepatocyte. 相似文献

Heating the outer layers of the magnetically quiet solar atmosphere to more than one million kelvin and accelerating the solar wind requires an energy flux of approximately 100 to 300?watts per square metre, but how this energy is transferred and dissipated there is a puzzle and several alternative solutions have been proposed. Braiding and twisting of magnetic field structures, which is caused by the convective flows at the solar surface, was suggested as an efficient mechanism for atmospheric heating. Convectively driven vortex flows that harbour magnetic fields are observed to be abundant in the photosphere (the visible surface of the Sun). Recently, corresponding swirling motions have been discovered in the chromosphere, the atmospheric layer sandwiched between the photosphere and the corona. Here we report the imprints of these chromospheric swirls in the transition region and low corona, and identify them as observational signatures of rapidly rotating magnetic structures. These ubiquitous structures, which resemble super-tornadoes under solar conditions, reach from the convection zone into the upper solar atmosphere and provide an alternative mechanism for channelling energy from the lower into the upper solar atmosphere. 相似文献

Abstract Scoring in a basketball game is a highly dynamic, non-linear process. NBA teams try to be more and more competitive each season. For instance, they incorporate into their rosters the best players in the world. This and other mechanisms concur to make the scoring process in NBA games exciting and rarely predictable. This paper is to study the behavior of timing and scoring in basketball games. The authors analyze all the games in five NBA regular seasons (2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2009–10), for a total of 6150 games. Scoring does not behave uniformly; therefore, the authors also analyze the distributions of the differences in points in the basketball games. To further analyze the behavior of the tail of the distribution, the authors also carry out a semilog-plot and a log-log plot to verify whether this trend approaches a Poisson distribution or a PL. This paper reveals different areas of behavior related to the score, with specific instances of time that could be considered tipping points of the game. The presence of these critical points suggests that there are phase transitions where the dynamic scoring of the games varies significantly. 相似文献

Melatonin is a natural compound synthesized by a variety of organs. It has been shown to
function as a cell-protective agent. Since 1994, when the first paper was published documenting
the role of melatonin in apoptosis, the number of reports in this area has increased rapidly. Much
of the research conducted falls into three major categories: first, the role of melatonin in
inhibiting apoptosis in immune cells; second, the role of melatonin in preventing neuronal
apoptosis and finally, the role of melatonin in increasing apoptotic cell death in cancer
cells. The mechanisms whereby melatonin influences apoptosis have not clarified, although a number
of mechanistic options have been suggested. Apoptotic cell death is a physiological phenomenon
related to homeostasis and proper functioning of tissues and organs; however, a failure in the
apoptotic program is related to a number of diseases. The participation of melatonin in apoptosis
in numerous cell types and its potential importance in a variety of diseases such as

A peptido-polysaccharide isolated from the culture medium of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis has been studied. The crude product is a mixture of several polysaccharides releasing, by hydrolysis glucose, mannose and galactose. The purified fraction contains mannose (88%) and galactose (12%). This galactomannan has a molecular weight varying between 4.6.10(4) and 2.6.10(4). It is associated with a peptide containing four amino-acids. 相似文献
