Über die Entwicklung des Fremdkörpergranuloms in verschiedenen Organsystemen

Summary The weight has been measured of the granuloma produced after implantation of the same foreign body in the kidneys, the testes, the liver and the subcutaneous tissue of male rats. It was found that granulomae in the testes and liver are nearly twice as heavy as in the kidney or in the subcutaneous tissue. Enhancement or inhibition of this reaction by treating the animals with cortexone shows organ-dependent effects on granuloma formation.     

Antagonistische Wirkung von Mucoprotein Gottschalk gegenüber Shearschem Polysaccharid an isolierten Zellen

Summary Shear's Polysaccharide and Gottschalk's Virusreceptor-Mucoprotein are biological antagonists. The latter inhibits the stimulation of leucocytic migration produced by the former. Inhibition of virushaemagglutination by Gottschalk's Mucoprotein is reversed by Shear's Polysaccharide.

Summary Quantitative determination of bacteriolysis with different T_1–7-phages confirms earlier observations that with substances inhibiting the action of T₁-phage the normal respiratory metabolism of the protected bacteria is quantitatively restored in every detail.With T₂-phage, showing a different respiratory course of bacteriolysis, no effect is obtained with the same substance, either on the respiration of the bacteria or on the typical course of respiration during bacteriolysis. The action of the phage inhibiting substance against T₁-phage is therefore an effect of definite specificity.

Automatic recognition of squirrel monkey vocalisations by means of a filterbank

Summary Up to now the problem of classifying squirrel monkey vocalizations has not been solved satisfactorily. The problem is now approached by a method, which consists of 2 phases. At first the monkey vocalizations are compared with the aid of physical criteria and classified by types. According to the classification of types, the membership of the individual vocalizations is tested.     

Pharmakologische Charakteriserung von synthetischem Hypertensin

Summary Synthetic hypertensin, RH II, a Val₅octapeptide shows the same pattern of activity as natural hypertensin (angiotonin). In the normal rat, and in the rat pretreated with ganglionic blocking substances, the hypertensive activity corresponds to that of nor-adrenaline while it is enhanced in the nephrectomised animal. In the intact animal, hydralazine diminishes the hypertensive effect, while Regitin, Chlorpromazine and Reserpine are without effect. On the perfused vessels of the rabbit's hind limb, RH II produces a vasoconstriction which is diminished by Chlorpromazine and hydralazine, but not by Regitin. RH II is not destroyed by heating, but by freshly prepared kidney extract.

Summary Acetophenone derivatives with a cortisone-like side chain have been investigated for their catalytic effect on the autoxydation of linolenic acid.-Hydroxy-acetophenone and the substituted-hydroxy-3,4-dimethoxyacetophenone are the substances with the simplest structure having a catalytic effect quantitatively and qualitatively similar to that of cortisone.The significance of substituents in the ring for the catalytic activity of the side chain is discussed.
