Zusammenfassung Einleitende elektronenmikroskopische Untersuchungen der ungegliederten Milchröhren vonJatropha-podagrica-Embryonen haben das Vorkommen von Verbindungen der Zellkerne, augenfälligen Dictyosomen und reichliche Mengen von Mikrotubuli in diesen aussergewöhnlichen Zellen gezeigt. In den Milchröhren dieser Art wurde kein Vorkommen von Zellverschmelzung beobachtet.

On the mannophosphoinositides ofMycobacterium 607

Zusammenfassung AusMycobacterium 607 wurden 7 Mannophosphoinositiden isoliert und durch präparative Dünnschichtchromatographie getrennt. Diese Lipide machen ca. 30% der gesamten Phosphatide des Stammes aus und setzen sich aus einem Mono-, zwei Di- und je einem Tri-, Tetra-, Penta- und Hexamannosiden zusammen. Mit Ausnahme der Monomannoside (2) haben sämtliche Mannoside mehr als 3 Fettsäuren pro Phosphorg-Atom     

Length measurement of gut segments for mucosal transport studies

Résumé La longueur des segments d'intestin de rat, mesurée in vivo sous une anesthésie profonde à l'ether et in vitro, dans une solution tampon à 25 °C, atteint environ le 94% et le 80% de la longueur des segments totalement relâchés. L'une ou l'autre de ces mesures semble assez constante pour être employée dans la standardisation des méthodes en usage dans la plupart des études sur le transport mucosal.

Fine structural characterization of microbodies and Woronin bodies in Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

Microbodies and Woronin bodies, organelles surrounded by a single unit membrane, were identified in the hyphal cells of Trichophyton mentagrophytes by employing a fixative containing TAPO. The fine structure of the organelles is described and their possible significance discussed.     

The effect of sulfhydryl reagents upon the activity of 40S ribosomal subunits

Summary p-Chloromercuribenzoate inhibited the poly (U)-dependent binding of Phe-tRNA to the 40S ribosomal subunit but displayed no inhibitory effect on the binding of poly (U) to the ribosome. Other sulfhydryl reagents tested, likeN-ethylmaleimide and iodoacetamide, did not affect the binding of Phe-tRNA to the small ribosomal subunit.
