Developmental characteristics of histamine methyltransferase and phenylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase of rat brain

Summary The specific activity of histamine methyltransferase of rat brain increases rapidly from the 16th until the 25th day of gestation (7 days after birth). The specific activity of phenylethanolamine-N-methyl-transferase shows a rapid incrase during the 1st and the 2nd week after birth, the adult values being obtained by the end of the 2nd week.     

Murine type C endogenous virus expression in murine 129 teratocarcinoma cell line]

Murine type C viral information is detectable in the cellular genome of both differentiated and undifferentiated cell lines derived from 129 Mouse teratocarcinoma. Cytoplasmic RNA expression which is negligible in differentiated cells, is significantly higher in multipotential undifferentiated cells. Furthermore it was observed that in vitro differentiation of multipotent cells leads to a decrease of this expression.

Cellularity and composition of epididymal adipose tissue from cold-acclimatized rats

Summary Cold acclimatization induces morphological and compositional modifications of rat epididymal adipose tissue: a decrease in fat cell size, an increase of fat cell number per g of tissue, but no significant increase in total fat cell number in the tissue; finally, an increase in protein content and a decrease in triglyceride content.Acknowledgments. Beweis des Steringerüstes von Ouabagenin

Summary Ouabagenin (I) has been degraded stepwise to the known 3-methoxy-17-carbomethoxy-^1,3,5:10-estratriene (XII). Thus the presence of a normal steroid skeleton and the -configuration of the butenolidering at C-17 is proven. The 14-configuration of the hydroxyl at C-14 was also proven. As a result of these and earlier findings, structure I can be definitely assigned to ouabagenin.

Effect of vincristine on the ultrastructure of rat neurohypophysis

Résumé Des hypophyses postérieures de rat ont été incubées en présence de vincristine, substance qui interfère avec le système microtubulaire et provoque la formation d'inclusions cristalloides caractéristiques. L'ultrastructure a révélé ces inclusions dans les fibres nerveuses et les pituicytes. La discussion porte sur les répercussions fonctionnelles que ces altérations morphologiques pourraient entraîner.

The effects of cocaine in the production of cardiovascular anomalies inβ-Adrenoreceptor stimulated chick embryos

Summary Cocaine potentiates the effects of epinephrine and norepinephrine in terms of aortic arch malformation in embryonic chicks.
