Muscular respiratory receptors in self-regulation of normal breathing in man.

In man, in the process of evolution the proprioceptive reflexes from the chest muscle during apnea become weak. Probably the impulses from the respiratory stretch receptors do not take part in self-regulation of eupnea.     

Profilin1 biology and its mutation,actin(g) in disease

Profilins were discovered in the 1970s and were extensively studied for their significant physiological roles. Profilin1 is the most prominent isoform and has drawn special attention due to its role in the cytoskeleton, cell signaling, and its link to conditions such as cancer and vascular hypertrophy. Recently, multiple mutations in the profilin1 gene were linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In this review, we will discuss the physiological and pathological roles of profilin1. We will further highlight the cytoskeletal function and dysfunction caused by profilin1 dysregulation. Finally, we will discuss the implications of mutant profilin1 in various diseases with an emphasis on its contribution to the pathogenesis of ALS.

Summary The disappearance of thrombin—formed in the blood, or added to serum-follows a manomolecular reaction-type. Heparin increases the reaction-velocity of this thrombin-inactivating process.Our investigation established that toluidine blue or kinase, which, according to the literature, bind heparin, strongly reduce the speed of thrombin-inactivation too. Therefore the heparin-binding capacity of these substances is also manifested in the decrease of thrombin-inactivation.

The activities of citrate cleavage enzyme,acetyl-CoA synthetase and lipoprotein lipase in white and brown adipose tissue and the liver of the rat during development

Zusammenfassung Während der Rattenontogenese wurde die Aktivität des Citrat-Cleavage-Enzyms und der Acetyl-CoA-Synthetase in der Leber und im braunen und weissen Fettgewebe bestimmt. In allen Geweben wird die Aktivität vor der Geburt höher als nach der Geburt, wobei die Adultwerte nach dem 30. postnatalen Tag erreicht werden. Die Aktivität der Lipoproteinlipase ist im Säuglingsalter gross und sinkt nach der Entwöhnung ab.
