Gigantecin: A novel antimitotic and cytotoxic acetogenin,with nonadjacent tetrahydrofuran rings,fromGoniothalamus giganteus (Annonaceae)

Summary Gigantecin (I), a novel tetrahydroxy-di-tetrahydrofuran fatty acid -lactone (acetogenin), was isolated from an ethanolic extract of the stem bark ofGoniothalamus giganteus Hook. f., Thomas (Annonaceae), by means of activity-directed fractionation (brine shrimp lethality test). This new compound is extremely cytotoxic to human tumor cells, inhibits crown gall tumors on potato discs, and is active in an assay designed to detect antimitotic agents (9 ASK).     

Metabolism of 3β-hydroxycholest-5-en-26-oic acid in hamsters

Summary Metabolism of 26-hydroxycholesterol to 3-hydroxychol-5-en-24-oic acid and other C24-bile acids has been expected to occur by way of 3-hydroxycholest-5-en-26-oic acid in studies in vitro. 3-Hydroxycholest-5-en-26-oic acid was infused intravenously into bile fistula hamsters and the following C24-bile acids were identified: 3-hydroxychol-5-en-24-oic acid, lithocholic acid, chenodeoxycholic acid, and a small amount of cholic acid.     

Influence of bistramide A on the twitch tension in rat atrial heart muscle

Bistramide A, a new toxin isolated from the UrochordateLissoclinum bistratum Sluiter, was applied to rat auricular heart muscle bundles. At a stimulation frequency of 0.2 Hz, the toxin induces a dose-dependent reduction of the stimulated twitch tension force; it decreases and shortens the duration of the plateau and the slow repolarizing phase of the action potential. In the control solution, switching from a stimulation frequency of 0.2 Hz to 1 Hz decreases the force with which a positive potentiation develops either at a maintained high frequency or after switching from 1 Hz to 0.2 Hz. Bistramide A reduces both the force evoked at 1 Hz and the potentiation. The data suggest that Bistramide A blocks Na⁺ conductance; inhibits Ca⁺⁺ channels in a time-and frequency-dependent manner; reduces Na⁺–Ca⁺⁺ exchange activity; but does not modify the ability of the sarcoplasmic reticulum to be refilled although the rate of Ca⁺⁺ accumulation is decreased.     

Cholecystokinin is not a major regulator in the digestive system in the chicken

To find out whether physiological concentrations of cholecystokinin (CCK), a gastrointestinal hormone in mammals, are also active in chickens, the pancreatic amylase secretory response to CCK-8 was investigated in vitro. Rat pancreatic acini responded to the physiological concentration of CCK-8, but in chickens amylase release was induced at a concentration of CCK-8 1000 times higher than that observed in rats. In another experiment, biliary flow was tested with several doses of CCK-8. The bile flow was stimulated in a dose-dependent fashion, but a significant enhancement was not obtained at a concentration of 0.5 g CCK-8/kg body weight, which was considerably higher than physiological ones. It is concluded that endogeneous CCK does not have an important role in the digestive system in the chicken.     

Occurrence of 3-epi-22-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone and its phosphoric ester in diapause eggs of the silkworm,Bombyx mori

Ecdysteroids in diapause eggs of the silkworm,Bombyx mori, were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) combined with radioimmunoassay (RIA). A relatively large amount of an unidentified free ecdysteroid and its phosphoric ester (conjugated form) were detected. These two compounds were isolated by a combination of column chromatography on silicic acid, thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and HPLC using a reverse-phase (RP) column. The purified compounds were identified as 3-epi-22-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone (22d20E) and 3-epi-22-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone 2-phosphate (22d20E2P) by means of mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. to our knowledge, this is the first report of 22d20E and 22d20E2P.

采用雪崩热电子注入技术和高频Ｃ－Ｖ准静态Ｃ－Ｖ特性测试,研究了新型快速热氮化的ＳｉＯｘＮｙ介质膜界面陷阱的特征,侧重于研究界面陷阱的特性与分布。结果表明：这种ＳｉＯｘＮｙ薄膜禁带中央界面陷阱密度随氮化时间的分布变化呈现”回转效应“,且存在着不同类型、密度悬殊很大的电子陷阱、指出雪崩热电子注入过程中在Ｓｉ／ＳｉＯｘＮｙ界面上产生两种性质不同的快界面态陷阱;给出了这两种界面态陷阱密度在禁带中能量的分布     

论非构造油气藏综合勘探方法

通过研究构造演化和生烃与油气运聚散的关系,总结成功的地震相和基准面旋回高分辨率层序地层学方法在寻找岩性地层油气藏中的应用,分析了各种特殊地震处理和油气检测方法的适用性和可靠性,提出了３个层次、５类方法的非构造油气藏勘探思路。３个层次及有关方法是：在盆地规模上进行整体、动态、综合研究,寻找有利油气聚集带;在有利油气聚集带规模上,开展高分辨率层序地震地层学研究,寻找各类有效尖灭体和圈闭;在可能的圈闭基础上,利用地震烃类检测和化探技术进行圈闭评价。３个层次５类方法的全面研究和有机结合是减小非构造油气藏勘探风险,提高勘探成功率的有效途径。     

甘薯开花规律的观察

对甘薯的开花规律作了观察．结果表明,一个植株的花序有30－75个,开花顺序有先后．在一个植株上,花是从下而上开放的;在一个花序上,花由内向外开放,它的开花情况符合两种模式图．从每一个植株纵向开花来看,花是从下而上呈螺旋报开放．     

New bounds on time and number of processors for multiprocessor optimal schedules

Two problems for task schedules in a multiprocessor parallel system are discussed in this paper:

1. Given a partially ordered set of tasks represented by the vertices of an acyclic directed graph with their corresponding processing times, derive the lower bound on the minimum time(LBMT) needed to process the task graph for a given number of processors.
2. Determine the lower bound on minimum number of processors(LBMP) needed to complete those tasks in minimum time. It is shown that the proposed LBMT is sharper than previously known values and the computational aspects of these bounds are also discussed.
